Renee Nicole Good is the one whose reputation should be protected, whose death should be marked by flags across the country being lowered to half-staff, who should be getting tearful tributes and acknowledgments from politicians and media figures. These are the people we ought to honor.

ICE killed a member of our community today. ICE showed up at my kid’s daycare today. ICE is bragging about the number of families they’ve torn apart in a matter of days, and promising that their campaign of terror isn’t done.

has fuckin' Cillizza written his "Democrats who criticize ICE's murder spree are falling into Trump's trap" piece yet?

Jesus. I lost my mother to cancer when I was 8. I can't imagine losing both parents before you're in kindergarten.
The woman killed by ICE was Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year old who was the mother of a 4-year old child whose father already died a few years ago.

The Star Tribune talked to her mother. www.startribune.com/she-was-an-a...

Paragraph 25: "Analysts said that if the United States tried to use the defense pact as a fig leaf to send in a lot of troops and try to occupy Greenland, that wouldn’t be legal either."

the occupation is coming from inside the country
I don't think you can truly grapple with where we are, and how we come back from it, without recognizing this is not a constitutionally legitimate government and he is not the lawful president of the United States.

“… is not even a law-governed constitutional state”: correct.

There may come a point where governors run out of choices but to acknowledge that the Trump administration rejects the governance of the Constitution in domestic affairs — and to take steps accordingly in protection of their citizens.
If agents of the state can murder citizens who are doing the most basic civic task, the country is not only not a democracy, it is not even a law-governed constitutional state—not a free country in the most fundamental sense.
The ICE observers are doing the most basic & important thing that can done vis-a-vis the government: they're monitoring the use of public authority.

Is that authority being used well? To advance the common good? Or is power being abused? These are any good citizen's most basic questions.

periodic reminder that a subscription to Mother Jones* is like twenty bucks a year and provides them with resources they need while subscriptions to the NYT are like 10x that and they already have billions.

* or your favorite other small news outlet
Mother Jones manages to prominently feature both Venezuela (a very important story!) and the Trump regime's murder. If Mother Jones can do so, the New York Times -- a multi-billion dollar company with ~infinitely more resources -- can, too.

Excellent 🧵by a local chicago reporter on the DHS violence we saw here in our city that’s now happening in Minneapolis. Scroll thru the whole thing to be reminded just how badly ICE IS OUT OF CONTROL.
An ICE officer fatally shooting a woman in Minneapolis is not the first time federal agents involved in immigration have shot a person this year. Here are two shootings, including another fatal one, during the recent Chicago blitz.

a goddamned "darts prodigy"!
The Trump regime murdered a woman in Minnesota this morning. Neither the Washington Post nor the New York Times so much as hints at that above the "fold" of their website. (No, a single small "Minnesota Shooting" link does not count.)

Plenty of Taylor Swift and some "darts prodigy" though

the fascist mouthpieces have a massive resource advantage.

this is a way to chip away at that advantage: give valuable stuff to real journalists at real news outlets (and real independent journalists.)
With permission from the person who took the video, I gave it to real journalists, not fascist mouthpieces

This, of all things, is the lead NYT opinion piece right now, on the same day that ICE killed a US citizen in the same state, without a trace of embarrassment or self-awareness.

This is a murder.

It is a murder even if a murderous regime covers up, and refuses to acknowledge the murder. We all know that, we control our own word choices, and the choices we make can make it easier or harder for the murderous regime to do what it wants.
And here's a quick-and-dirty composite of the two available videos, showing the victim's car allowing other cars to go by before pulling away.

It takes an enormous amount of courage to stand there, keep filming, and scream "What the fuck, you asshole" at someone wearing a badge who just shot and killed one of your neighbors in cold blood.
I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
I’m eating lunch, I’m having a panic attack, I’m charging my phone, and then I’m going back out to try and keep my neighborhood safe.

Do not let the failures of prosecution post January 6th happen again. Every second you do not charge this person is a second the massive propaganda apparatus around the federal government will use to create a fog of lies to get him off. Arrest him immediately for killing an American citizen.

Last week, we published a story detailing ICE's strategy for recruiting new officers, including targeting "gun rights" supporters and geo-fencing ads around gun shows.

Ex-ICE director told me: “That mentality you’re fostering tends to inculcate in people a certain aggressiveness"

As you evaluate this from Kristi Noem, remember that when a federal agent shot a woman in Chicago last year, DHS's initial version of events was full of lies that fell apart under subsequent scrutiny:
