NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

New piece:

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

I have long had an obscure, complex theory about Susan Collins that explains these things.

Susan Collins is terrible and anyone who ever suggested she is a moderate is a liar or a rube.

That's it. That's the whole thing.
In case anyone is wondering what kind of campaign Collins intends to run next year, now we know. No achievements, only hate:

Collins' office said she signed onto the petition because she agrees with President Donald Trump’s interpretation of Title IX.

The New York Times' story about Trump calling for the execution of members of Congress ran on Page 16 today, with an itty-bitty promo on the front about halfway down the page.
No wonder Trump thinks he can get away with anything.

The country is faced with a lawless and corrupt administration that threatens our rights, our health care, and our ability to provide for our families.

As a student of history, I want to be able to look back and say I did everything I could and so I am giving serious consideration to run in #CA14.

Trump's Transportation Secretary on how to improve air travel:

"People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly... We want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season, help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

I started doing the same thing a couple hours ago and six minutes in I was like "nah there's too much" and decided to try to fix the furnace instead (I didn't get that done either)
Wrote a column for tomorrow morning about all the crazy shit Trump has done **this week** and hoo boy, let me tell you, it’s a lot. And any one of these things would’ve gotten any past president impeached. The GOP owns every bit of this stain on our history.

I really think this kind of thing is a bad idea, because who wants to start a relationship *with a doctor’s office* by realizing the first thing that happened in that relationship is that they tried to trick you?
I went to make a doctor’s appointment today and got transferred to an AI “person” and I can’t overstate my revulsion when it fooled me for the first ten seconds, so that I was trying to be friendly and pleasant, and I realized it I was trying to be polite to a machine.

This is a *great* piece, which I have been touting for weeks, by wonderful (lawyer/writer) Lincoln Caplan, on why John Roberts deserves at least as much focus as Trump himself (or Alito, Thomas, Miller, JDV, etc) for war on US institutions.

He has replaced Roger Taney in Scotus Hall of Shame.

You do not need a phone to know it is wrong to call for the execution of members of congress who urge people to follow the law.

Some questions do not require talking points!
"Senator, what's your position on rape?"
"Gosh, I haven't had a chance to look at my phone, I just don't know."
Murkowski on Trump saying some Democrats committed treason punishable by death “So I was just explaining somebody out on the steps that I've just come back from Vice President Cheney's services, and I have not looked at my phone since 1030 this morning.” I offered to show my phone

Of all the terrible things Roberts has done, this was the most shocking stat: "the right-wing majority has used the shadow docket to uphold Trump’s actions roughly 90 percent of the time, repeatedly bailing him out of any obligation to follow the law"
There’s one person squarely to blame for Trump’s corruption, authoritarianism & assault on democracy: John Roberts. He’s enabled so much of Trump’s lawlessness while somehow escaping accountability for it

Me, too. And it encapsulates how misogynist our culture is that it will change nothing and everyone will let him get away with this like they let him get away with everything.
I’m still thinking about “quiet, piggy.” No president should be able to speak to a member of the press that way and remain president. That moment encapsulates how vile, misogynistic, and horrible that man is.
