you do not want to be running in a Democratic primary as the guy who was like "sure Trump has his flaws but let's not go overboard with our criticism." Not next year, not in 2028, not ever.

It seems like Trump’s Portland gambit is only possible because Americans are sufficiently insulated from depictions of the real world by a universe of derivative media AND the news orgs we’d expect to cover this faithfully are off the clock anyway.

3) lots of execs & programers seem to think "execs & programers interacting directly with users [when & how they feel like it]" shows they take users seriously. It does the opposite. Refusing to employ actual professional communicators to do this important work demonstrates *contempt* for users.
