My point here is not that crime, racism, terrorism, pollution etc were all worse in the 70s but that the period 1973-77 in particular was one of crisis, paranoia and hysteria. People were talking about Britain going bankrupt or collapsing into dictatorship. There was a national nervous breakdown

This makes it sound like people with licenses already are taking driving tests for fun.

I am excited and preemptively disappointed because I am going to see Bob Dylan on Sunday and yet he is almost definitely not going to do Blind Willie McTell, my favourite of his outtakes (yes I am a nerd)

Very sad to hear about Pauline Collins. Shirley Valentine is one of my favourite films - one of those retrospectively very inappropriate films I always stayed up to watch with my mum during school holidays. We still reference talking to Wall and Rock.

Nemo’s debut album came out yesterday and it’s really excellent. Hocus Pocus is probably the standout. It’s like if you mashed together Mika and Years & Years.
