KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN - really fascinating, thematically-ambitious (maybe too much?) film - with two of the best performances I've seen in any movie this year so far - from Diego Luna and Tonatiuh. Tonatiuh in particular ... what a breakthrough, tour de force performance (Oscar worthy for sure).

@tonyfleecs.bsky.social Just read your recent The Thing miniseries for Marvel, and wow - so good! So full of heart, brought a tear to my eye! Great stuff, can’t wait to see what you’ve got lined up next!

Looking at news and posts from #NYCC, wishing I was there. Clearly its become one of the biggest and best conventions. One day I'll go!

But since I'm not there, allow me to post here to plug our comic series HALLOWEEN TEAM and its new sequel, HALLOWEEN TEAM: SHADOWS. New #1 out now!

Got the updated Novavax COVID booster vaccine. I’ve seen a lot of LA based friends having pretty serious bouts with COVID of late - it’s still out there and it’s no joke. So go and get vaxxed if you are able! And if you think you may have sensitivy to MRNA vaccines, seek out Novavax.

Just read your review. Fantastic stuff. I appreciate that you actually engage with the film rather than set out to trash it. Not all of the movie worked for me, but a lot of it did and I’m glad it was made - and I’d love to see more. Thank you for a great, insightful piece of writing!

Also, shout out to Jodie Turner-Smith. She sort of steals the movie and man, she sells the hell out of it every time she gets d-rezzed (which is a lot).

Now give us the mega-sequel with Boxleitner and Wylde and Hedlund and Sheen back - please and thank you!

Had a lot of fun with TRON: ARES. In IMAX 3D, the theme-park ride aspects of the movie are awesome, and it provides the sort of sensory overload you want from a Tron movie. It sort of lacks the exclamation points at the end of each sentence to truly be great. But it shows the franchise has juice.

These last few weeks have been incredibly rough, but ... I am psyched for a new TRON movie tonight.

Tron rules.

Tron Legacy rules.

I don't know how good Ares will be. But the idea of a new Tron movie makes me happy.

"Fight for the user!"

Hmmm ... looking into!

I grew up with Vertigo being a huge thing for me as a reader, writer, and comics fan. Glad to see it's back, and wow - all of these books sound amazing!

So glad to hear that Rick Veitch's long-lost SWAMP THING issues will finally be available. I love the Moore and Veitch Swamp Thing runs - sheer brilliance through and through. And it was sad to think that the full run would never see the light of day. 'Bout time!

Michael Sheen in Tron: Legacy is legitimately one of the most fun supporting performances ever in a big blockbuster movie.

Also - apologies, my microphone stopped working right before the interview, so my audio sounds terrible as it’s through my webcam mic. Hopefully the interview is still okay!

Not Stephen Miller accidentally outting the regime in an interview. Let that "plenary authority" claim slip right out and then had to act like the audio cut out.

Sir! We heard you.. and the President does NOT have plenary authority.

PSA for classic film fans: a bunch more (40+) new-to-digital films are now live on digital retailers like Apple, Amazon, Fandango, etc. Several new Abbott & Costello films (Little Giant, Lost in Alaska, Who Done It?, etc), film noir Larceny, 70's adventure Swashbuckler, Remember the Night, and more!

THE SMASHING MACHINE features some incredible scene-to-scene filmmaking from Benny Safdie. And Safdie helps Dwayne Johnson to the best dramatic performance of his career. But, struggled a bit finding meaning here. Hard to know what to make, exactly, of this story or of this film in a larger sense.

A fun night at Knott’s Scary Farm. Super crowded though. Managed to do the two new mazes, and see two shows. Always love the spooky vibes and sense of total immersion.

I will say that ANEMONE, thanks to Daniel Day-Lewis, has:

a.) the most intense teeth-brushing scene ever in a movie

b.) the most intense scene of someone eating a small bag of potato chips ever in a movie
