President Trump continued to describe Portland as a city on fire on Friday — even as we enjoyed fall rain, and the lone demonstrator at the city’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement building was dressed as a pink Care Bear.

Hey @jimmykimmellive.bsky.social — the only thing hellish in Portland is afternoon meetings without a second cup of coffee. Luckily, we’ve got that covered too… so there’s *really* nothing for the president to worry about.

Our team is fighting every day for Oregon priorities: keeping our communities safe, protecting seniors, kids, and working families, and upholding Oregon laws & values.

Here are just a few of our accomplishments: 🧵

The president must follow the Constitution. If he wants to push the boundaries, we’ll hold the line in court.

This is America. The U.S. military has no place in our streets.

Portland is peaceful. There is no reason to deploy National Guard here.

I know a workaround when I see one (I have a teenager!). The president can’t just keep trying to be creative to get what he wants. It doesn’t work with me as a dad, and it won’t work with me as Attorney General. There’s no place for the U.S. military in our cities.

Late tonight, a federal judge issued a sweeping new order prohibiting the president from deploying any National Guard forces—from any state or DC—to Oregon.

The president cannot keep playing whack-a-mole with different states’ Guard units to get around court orders and the rule of law.

This opinion is a tour de force and a defense of our Constitution and the Rule of Law. It quoted James Madison, cautioning against a standing military force being used as “instrument of tyranny.” We all must continue to stand up against this administration’s dangerous lawlessness.

No one should be afraid to walk to work, take their kids to school, or go to the store because of ICE sweeps.

We’re fighting back in court to stop these dangerous enforcement tactics and protect the rights of every Oregonian – no matter where they come from. #orpol
