I'm frustrated that I have to try to tell the difference between obedience and complicity, and when "thank you for your service" becomes "sorry for your service" it's a very sad state of affairs

Okay... I'm picturing in my mind that image of Marines sleeping on the floor in LA because they were deployed without sufficient accommodations. I can see this as something being done TO them, not BY them.

To a point, perhaps. They can't "just quit"? As in, there would be serious consequences for quitting? I understand why it's different but I don't understand why they're off the hook entirely

A question for U.S. high school physics teachers: in looking at posts on Reddit from HS physics students, a typical statement is “Our school doesn't use any textbooks and none were recommended by our teacher. They send slides/files, but only after they’ve finished the whole topic.” 1/2 🎢

I am operating under the assumption that the problem-solver personality type that thrives in laboratories probably also manifests in the STEM education space. Definitely an unwarranted extrapolation from my own experience (n=1) but I am not prepared to think I'm THAT unique

I like to build my curriculum so there is a narrative through-line, and there are no sudden changes of topic. Every lesson, every unit follows logically from the last. The sudden shift from mechanics to E&M always gives me whiplash

Part of the reason why I don't use a textbook now it's because I started with a resource-sparse text and had to build a lot of my own curriculum. Now, I find that no textbook suits my approach.

I also suspect that others, like me, are deeply intuitive and find it easier to go from what we know.

What is the state of the research on the link between acetaminophen and ASD? I expected that there would be one or two discredited papers speculating on a tenuous link, but when I used my institutional access to survey papers on the topic, I couldn't find one that didn't postulate a correlation.

It's actually part of why I left. I couldn't accept that so many "Christians" were fakers without the Holy Spirit, or that the Holy Spirit was so worthless that this many Christians failed this basic test.
