Based on their knowledge I assume they never even read any of the books and it just bothers me that someone like that would publically speak for the fandom and have people agreeing in mass.. I mostly enjoy LotR in private but I'd hate to see the fandom evolve into a place where its so misinterpreted

I encountered a person who argued that Bilbo Baggins should be looked down upon because he is a 'rich aristocrat type', and I think that person needs to stop projecting their disgruntled outlook of our society onto this fantasy world where the economics were never even defined by its creator
