Holy shit some of my favorite people
davetron.bsky.social
We'll be adding an appendix soon to our recent Core Rules FAQ to help explain with more examples. We appreciate all of the feedback and questions so far, and we're excited to see the decks y'all make with sweet combos! (8/8)
davetron.bsky.social
"But Dave," you ask. "What about Leona, Zealot?" Great question, friend. Leona applies -8 to stunned enemies at her battlefield, and that will apply last, which means pretty much all of these shenanigans will end up at min 1 (unless you somehow had a 10+ Might Poro). (7/8)
davetron.bsky.social
A Stalwart Poro (2 Might) that moves to Trifarian War Camp (+1 Might while here) becomes a 3. If Stupefy (-1, min 1) is applied to it, it'll end up as a 2. If you move it away from the War Camp, the +1 will stop applying, and now it's a 1 from the snapshotted Stupefy. (6/8)
davetron.bsky.social
When the combat ends, the Shield will wear off, and now it'll be 2 Might (2 Might, +2 Stand United, -2 Smoke Screen). If we hadn't played the Stand United, it would be a 0 but that's ok - it'll stay alive until it takes damage. (5/8)
davetron.bsky.social
If you play Stand United (+2, buff with an additional +1) on the Stalwart Poro in that combat, the Smoke Screen's -2 doesn't change - and we get a 2 Might, +1 Shield, +2 Stand United, -2 Smoke Screen = 3 Might. (4/8)
davetron.bsky.social
A defending Stalwart Poro (2 Might w/ +1 from Shield) that has a Smoke Screen applied to it (-4, min 1) will end up as a 1. That's bc first it gets +1 from Shield, then Smoke Screen gives -2 to get us to min 1. (3/8)
davetron.bsky.social
One time effects that decrease Might to min 1 will snapshot the decrease at the time of application. So spells like Stupefy and Smoke Screen will look at the current Might of the unit, after all changes are applied, and then apply -Might until it gets to 1. Ok, how about some examples? (2/8)

Hey all! Tons of great questions/feedback about the rules around +/- Might in Riftbound... esp re: weird states around the combo of multiple effects. Updates to our Core Rules will come later; for now, here are answers. TL;DR - First apply increases, then apply decreases. (1/8)

Yes! We call our version Watcher and we are working on it now, should be up in the near- to mid-future

Gotcha - yes we have these for stores, and once the game is out-out we have a product for sale (Proving Grounds, 4 starter decks designed to played against each other) that is definitely good for teaching friends/family

When you say “demo” what do you mean? (We do demos at events, like we just did at GenCon, and we’re shipping demo kits to LGSs this month)

Hey friends - we've put together a Core Rules FAQ that hopefully answers both commonly asked questions about game and also addresses many of the more intricate/complex situations folks have been confused by or asked about. @riftbound.riotgames.com

Today I get to share with you all these #riftboundreveals! As many of you know, I've been fortunate enough to consult on the game since very early on, so I've seen a bunch of iterations of a lot of cards. Let me just say that "Blizzard your team" Anivia is a lot more fun than "Never dies" Anivia was

Things are now crystal clear. Whether you need a little bit of filtering or a backline advantage engine, Gemcraft Seer has you covered!
A Riftbound card named Gemcraft Seer. It is a Calm Card that costs 3 energy and 1 power. It has 3 Might. It is a Mount Targon Unit. It has Vision, and gives your Other friendly units Vision. Vision is a keyword that says "When you play me, look at the top card of your main deck. You may recycle it". The flavor text reads: The light changes with every reflection.

Early in working on Stun as a mechanic for Riftbound we found it to be really interesting as a combat trick. It was a lot like a localized "Fog" effect- it could stop an Enemy Unit from dealing Damage, really tilting complex fights in your favor.
A Riftbound card named Eclipse Herald. It is a Calm Unit that Costs 7 Energy and 1 Power. It is a Mount Targon and Bird Typed unit. It has the ability "When you stun a Unit, ready me and give me +1 Might this turn". The flavor text is "An Omen as terrifying as that which follows".

My second and final Riftbound preview card is Eager Apprentice!

This card's flavor text is a perfect encapsulation of me trying to pilot my Kai'Sa spells deck. Also, this card is quite good in a Kai'Sa spells deck!

(Maybe it's a coincidence... maybe it's narrative design)
Image of the Riftbound card Eager Apprentice. It is a 3-cost 3-Might unit in the blue Mind domain.

Its rules text reads "While I'm at a battlefield, the Energy costs for spells you play is reduced by 1 Energy, to a minimum of 1."

Its flavor text reads, "As long as these thirty-seven things go right, it'll work every time!"
