I don’t want to tell people to give up hope or despair, but I think a lot of my disagreements stem from being fundamentally less optimistic than this about the current trajectory which probably features the GOP holding the senate and courts getting increasingly MAGAfied ahead of 2028.

What IMO is also missed in much analysis is how far Microsoft and Google's physical data infrastructure for Europe is place in Europe.

The thing I think folks struggle to appreciate with this stuff tho is however hard it is to wean Europe off US tech is *at least as hard* as it will be for US tech to get back into Europe after that type of transition kicks into high gear

Nejlépe napsaný radikální argumentace a návrh jsem stále nečetl lépe než tady, ale taky se stále se vším shoduju.

U patentů to je složitější, ale softwarové by bylo lepší nemít vůbec. U věcí jako léky by musely hrát větší roli veřejné finance - ale ne o moc, hrají ji velkou i teď.

Já si myslím, že bychom se obešli úplně bez něho a nebylo by to zhoršení. Ale minimální verze pro mě u copyrightu je zkrácení na 10-20 let od vytvoření (kdy se stejně mimochodem vytvoří asi 90% ekonomické hodnoty) a registrace (jednodušší než patentová, ale opt-in, ne opt-out).

I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.

I have to say, as a man with two mothers, I find the derisive deployment of language like "lesbian" and "lover" by those on the far right who are trying to justify Renee Good's death particularly disgusting and dehumanizing. These women. They are wives. They are a family. That's it.
