Overcapacity as a competitive advantage. Makes sense in a zero-sum game of a geopolitical conflict and domination. In an open world, China just subsidizes the world by reducing welfare of own citizens. If we wern't afraid of China eventually becoming aggressive we would have no reason to counter it.

Gallup reports new high of 45% in U.S. identify as political independents

A record-high 45% of U.S. adults identified as political independents in 2025, surpassing the 43% measured in 2014, 2023 and 2024. Meanwhile, equal shares of U.S. adults — 27% each — identified as either Democrats or Republicans. In most years since Gallup began regularly conducting its polls by telephone in 1988, independents have been the largest political group. However, the independent percentage has increased markedly in the past 15 years, typically registering 40% or higher, a level not reached prior to 2011. Party preferences in 2025 essentially reverted back to what they were during Donald Trump’s first term as president, when Democrats held leads averaging five points. Democrats — who usually hold an edge — have had larger advantages than now in 1992 and 1993, 1996 through 1999, and 2006 through 2009.

Pokud se shodneme, že je pro svět a zejména pro občany daných zemí důležité odstranit Taliban, barmskou juntu, íránské teokraty, Assada, kubánské kleptokraty, Hamas atd, pak co je realistickou cestou?

Jestli teokratický režim opravdu zavraždil tisíce až nízké desitíky tisíc protestujících během 2 dnů, je to strašný začátek roku. O řád drastičtější, než co jsme kde viděli velmi, velmi dlouhou dobu.
Intervence v Íránu je na rozdíl od Venezuely legitimní i legální na základě humanitárního práva.

Jedním z mých přesvědčení, které mohou být velmi mylné, je nezávadnost mikroplastů. Poslední roky je vidíme úplně všude. Celkově jsou však lidé zdravější a vztah plastů a nemocí nikdo moc nepopsal.
Takže mě podobné články těší, bo mě v mém možném omylu utvrzují.

Četl jsem dneska, že už jsem ve věku, abych radši šel na preventivní kolonoskopii. Trochu se bojím, jak nepříjemné to asi bude. Ale vlastně nemusím: vždyť tak jednou do roku chodím na Poštu a taky to jde vydržet!

I don’t want to tell people to give up hope or despair, but I think a lot of my disagreements stem from being fundamentally less optimistic than this about the current trajectory which probably features the GOP holding the senate and courts getting increasingly MAGAfied ahead of 2028.
