In all the years I've been campaigning, this is the first where I've feared retaliation - but even X is not above the law. That's why we've referred X to Ofcom for horrific posts that, having taken legal advice, we believe are illegal under the Online Safety Act. goodlaw.social/wk2q

Freezing income tax thresholds doesn’t “drag more people into higher bands”, people get paid more as a function of time, which is… good? Tax revenue reflects a well-paid workforce.

It's a huge problem of bibliometrics, and especially of AI, that it allows people who are totally ignorant about a subject to masquerade as experts.

Horrified to hear that the University of Bath *requires* a bibliometric report for academic promotions. They should be banning them, not requiring them. #LISbib25

Every day, at a random moment, it pops up and interrupts you. I just hope the bubble bursts soon.
I think AI might have been a bit... overhyped.
It's just Clippy on steroids and even more annoying.

The Times talking up Farage again. It used to be a respectable newspaper. Now it's down with the Mail and Telegraph.

AT the LIS Bibliometrics meeting, we were treated to a sales talk from Clarivate who are sponsoring the meeting, I asked "WoS indexes many journals that are designed to sell "alternative medicine" aka quackery", But the Q wasn't answered -I was reprimanded for "inappropriate" comment! #LISbib25

But I loved Amélie Church (Sorbonne University Library, France). Sorbonne has unsubscribed from Science, Nature, Springer, and Web of Science. That's what I call a real university. One of the few that still has principles.

Very sad to see that the LIS Bibliometrics meeting, 2025, is being sponsored by Clarivate. I've just suffered a long sales talk from Clarivate, a company that, IMO, profits from corrupting science. #LISbib2025

The excellent #GillianTett on #BBCNewsnight points out the very depressing thought that there exist people who will vote for Farage because of his admiration for Hitler, not despite it.

Listen to the Reith Lectures -very good even in the censored version. Please boost the Streisand effect.

“Gas ‘em all!”, I said. I didn’t single anybody out. Except Hitler, who I agreed with.
When the racist comedian Bernard Manning fell out of fashion in more tolerant times and stopped appearing on TV he defended his long history of appalling offensive "jokes" as nothing more than "banter"and insisted that he "had a go at everyone".

This is the Bernard Manning defence.
