Remember, racism is based on fear, not fact. It stems from ignorance, not understanding; from insecurity, not strength.

The more we learn, connect, and empathize, the more we dissolve that fear.

It seems to me no coincidence that the decline of social media (and pray it is so) started just as content generated by artificial intelligence really got going.

Ever wonder what it would feel like to see your own thoughts... every bias, belief, and assumption laid out like code you could debug?

That’s where AI is heading… and it says as much about us as it does about machines.

The U.S. system was explicitly designed to prevent any branch or person from wielding plenary authority.

Only authoritarian regimes use that framing to justify control.

Presidents have executive authority, which is broad, but it’s always bounded by Congress, the courts, & the Constitution.

Highlights how legislation can mandate fairness but not erase prejudice or transform people’s hearts.

In essence, it’s a lament that legal equality isn’t the same as lived equality.

We must do better as a nation.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a landmark piece of U.S. legislation that outlawed segregation and discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin especially in schools, public places, and employment.

By that measure, what are the truly great nations?

Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, New Zealand, Canada, Iceland, and Netherlands.

Hat tip to those friends abroad, thank you for keeping the light on.

A truly great nation, & in turn a society worthy of a title, is a reflection of how it treats its most vulnerable not how it rewards its most powerful.

It is measured not by wealth or might, but by compassion, justice, & the opportunities it creates for all to rise, regardless of where they begin.

The House speaker claims this has nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. Then why delay the swearing in of Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva, who handily won a special election in Arizona *two weeks* ago?

He can easily prove it. trib.al/pl4anhF

It’s a reflection of our own instability, the slow, invisible shift in the data of our culture, thought, and collective attention.

This suggests something uncomfortable; maybe the brittleness we see in AI systems isn't a sign they're fundamentally different from us, but that they're too similar.
davidhfriedeljr.bsky.social
The AI models aren’t merely memorizing correlations; they’re internalizing fragments of how humans generate meaning, how we organize concepts, project context forward, and anchor language to intention.

That’s why when they drift, it’s not random.

Two journalists are set to be tried in Kentucky this week.

Their crime? Covering a protest of the immigration detainment of Ayman Soliman, who himself fled persecution for his journalism in Egypt. Soliman’s lawyer called it a “cruel irony.”
On trial for journalism in Kentucky.
Two months after their arrests while covering a protest, a pair of local reporters face criminal charges.
