Stainless steel, aluminum, gold foil #RanbirSidhu (2025) Asteroid 3033 X1 had X mark on floor guiding attention to portal of vessel, inside crystalline geometry with 500 facets.  Sculpture emerged from counter-Copernican thinking, that Earth is not centre of the universe.  (Art Gallery of Ontario)

Art Gallery of Ontario: Low form jutting from wall #FayeHeavyshield (1995) Venus as Torpedo is metal frame draped with girls' and women's clothes, dyed ochre red. Restaging in (2025) added whispers of stories by women in English and Blackfoot, that I didn't notice.

Harbourfront Centre: Main entrance foyer #AmandaMcCavour (2022) Clouds of Colour sculpture overhead, of hand-formed wire and powder coating. Interest in embroidery expressed with lace-like patterns inspired by geometry and flora. Filter and light create an environment of moving light and shadow.

Hampton Inn Maui North Shore:  Hotel historian blew conch shell and asked guests to join him at shore's edge at sunset. Ritual to toss petals towards the sea and say Mahalo Nui Loa to give gratitude for the day. Our last evening in Maui, we won't hear story the next day. (Kahului, Maui) 20260111

Lower Paia Park: Just west of centre of village, beach popular with local youth trying boogie boards and surfing. Easy to see big waves coming from distance, with gradual beach break resulting in foam and spilling. Quiet pause just a few minutes from bus stop 35 to Kahului. (Maui) 20260111

Paia Mantokuji: Bronze temple bell for Soto Zen Buddhist temple delivered in 1912. Head minister from Hiroshima Prefecture arrived in 1903, with temple constructed in 1907. Some gravestones in the cemetery are framed with metal pipes, to protect against sliding into the sea. (Maui) 20260111
