This is a pretty good baseball game.

Not sure if it has happened since, but George Hendrick faced George “Doc” Medich in the 1982 World Series.

Interesting. Not what has been happening tonight. Kirby has gotten calls on a few pitches just outside the zone - as you have obviously seen - and this is bad news for the Tigers. Torres chasing the 3-2 pitch that was just outside to end the third was quite likely influenced by Porter’s zone.

Guessing that tonight’s home plate umpire has one of the most pitcher-friendly strike zones in MLB.

The first game I have any memories of was played on today’s date in 1968. Jim Northrup hit a two-run triple. Mickey Lolich logged a CG win on two days rest. All these years later, and with apologies to my Mariners friends, go Tigers.

A .303 BA, a whole bunch of doubles, more walks than strikeouts, a 120 wRC+. Succeeded Williams, Yaz, and Rice as Red Sox left fielder. Big favorite of mine in the years following my 1988 move to Boston.

Yankee fans are booing at the singing of "O Canada" before tonight's Game 4. Pretty poor taste

even by snell's usual standard this is some strong commitment to not throwing anything over the heart of the plate

Thanks. Kind of came out of nowhere, and hopefully doesn’t get worse.

Carpal tunnel syndrome and/or arthritis in the hands - whatever it is that has rudely introduced itself - is not conducive to work as a writer, nor is it great for sleep.

Nutting actually said “Results are the only thing that matter”? If so, those words presumably weren’t spoken with a straight face.

Opponents were 4-for-5 with 3 extra-base hits, 16 walks and 0 K's after getting a 3-0 count against Jack Flaherty in regular season. He recovered to fan Jose Ramirez and end first inning.
