I know Liverpool didn't create much tonight, but you can surely excuse that when it's the league leaders away from home and you're missing so many forwards? Thought they were otherwise impressive.

There have been a few draws in this now-10-game unbeaten run that have felt disappointing, but this definitely wasn't one of them. A committed, intelligent performance from Liverpool, and they earn a fully deserved point as a result.

Arne Slot uncertain whether Hugo Ekitike will be available train today. Could miss tomorrow's trip to Arsenal if not.
January 7, 2026 at 9:48 AM
Arne Slot is right to say his team didn't give up much to Fulham today but, in this league, that's still enough to concede twice. That's why top teams have to do so much more going forward than Liverpool are. If this gets fourth, should it really save him?

Obviously that's a remarkable way for the draw to come about but, for me, Liverpool's performance didn't really deserve any more. This brand of football has made them harder to beat but it doesn't produce enough in attack and so they're always walking the tightrope.

Arne Slot says Hugo Ekitike picked up a slight hamstring injury because of his recent workload. Liverpool hopeful he will be back to face Arsenal.
January 4, 2026 at 2:04 PM
It feels like the remainder of this season is a trial in which Arne Slot must prove he deserves to stay on as Liverpool manager. If that is the case, he needs the attack to look so much better than they have recently, not least the second half today.

Liverpool have given up a lot of attacking thrust to solidify themselves in recent weeks and so you felt they were always running the risk of one of these games happening. A three-point cushion in fourth place is a positive but this was a disappointing result.

Liverpool to face Leeds United: Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Jones, Szoboszlai, Frimpong, Wirtz, Ekitike.

Subs: Mamardashvili, Kerkez, Mac Allister, Chiesa, Gakpo, Ramsay, Nyoni, Ngumoha, Lucky.

A big opportunity for Liverpool to earn some breathing room in the top four race, and even close in on third-placed Aston Villa. Can they take it?

Much like at Spurs, I think a lot of Liverpool fans will come away from this game with a negative feeling based on the latter stages. But on both occasions that could have been avoided by not conceding a set-piece. They are truly dreadful at them and something needs to be done.

Liverpool’s results have clearly improved of late but it’ll only feel sustainable if they start playing a little better. Today a really good chance to do that.

Slot on Isak: "It's going to be a long injury, a couple of months. That's a big, big, big disappointment for him and also for us."

Conor Bradley is in with a chance of returning to training on Friday and is "50/50" to face Wolves. Cody Gakpo similar. Joe Gomez and Wataru Endo still out.

Only Erling Haaland has scored more non-penalty Premier League goals than Hugo Ekitike this season. The questions about Liverpool's decision to buy two centre-forwards over the summer seem to have gone quiet.

Liverpool very poor all night and then truly dreadful after Tottenham went down to nine men, but that's another win, six unbeaten, and somehow level on points with fourth place. For now at least, the ends are justifying the means.

Liverpool and Arne Slot steadied the ship by playing dull football in recent games, but there was an element of slickness going forward today that bodes well for genuinely turning a corner, I think.

Mohamed Salah soaking up the applause as he does a lap of Anfield - perhaps just in case. I think he showed today that it would be a travesty if he and Liverpool cannot make it work for each other between now and the end of the season.
