I run a bit, sometimes to an OK level. Until November I'd had 18 months of frustration as persistent calf injuries occurred and stopped me running freely. Today I ran a 22:59 5km. Far worse than my PB (19:57), but also more satisfying than any record time - the ability to run without pain again.

Oh heavens no! They're shifting the money to the people who create the music and their management, who actually want their fans to attend for reasons other than scarcity! It's almost like it was before modern touting existed!

One of my unpopular opinions is that this, from Ryan Bourne, is correct

I'd have said it was a penalty if that had been a Liverpool player. A moment of stupidity for once not by the team I support. #lfc

I'm struggling to find the justification for disallowing the goal, other than it be deemed "unnaturally bigger". #lfc

Ahhh, the beauty of football, free from instant commercialisation ... oh.

Following that extraordinary snowbound bicycle kick in the Canadian Premier League final, quickly christened the "icicle kick", the CPL has applied to register the term as a trade mark across 17 different classes.

An interesting trade mark application from Leeds Utd, who are effectively seeking to trade mark the city's coat of arms for merchandise purposes. The Coat of Arms of Leeds and its design has been in existence longer than the football club, and Leeds does not have any prior registration of this type.

Movie you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars or Trek), LOTR, or Marvel.

Brighton, once admirable, now bans a newspaper for reporting fairly and seemingly accurately with not even a whiff of a lawsuit in the air. The behaviour of people with the very thinnest of skins and embarrassing from a football club.

Brighton ban Guardian from stadium over reporting on Tony Bloom
Reporters and photographers have been banned by the Premier League club, as a Guardian spokesperson said the reporting was in the public interest

Perhaps the biggest issue around Salah is that in the times he does talk to the press, everything he says is very deliberate. Reasonably assuming that this wasn't spontaneous, he knew what the consequences would be and went ahead anyway - precisely timed to apply the maximum pressure on Arne Slot.

It's quite a remarkable stance to think your selection for a starting eleven should be impervious to your actual form.

I love football. I hate football. I love football.

The Bradley and Wirtz substitutions were, however, on the manager. As unnecessary as the Konate challenge.

There are many things managers can account for, but stupidity is not one of them. #lfc

#jleague top tier finished with the lowest average GPG (2.37) of any season on record.

Stats point: that GPG is - 1.71 SDEV below average, 16.8% lower than the typical season. A season this low-scoring only occurs by chance in c.1/23 seasons (4.4% probability).

No, Wayne, you can't eat Macedonia.

A hugely deflected goal is unfortunate. Van Dijk giving the ball away like that to create the opportunity was awful. #lfc

The one minute of stoppage time had elapsed by the time Xhaka had ambled over to the corner flag, and the referee still permitted the corner to be taken after a further nineteen seconds had elapsed. #Ifc

The sensible, not conceding anything before half-time reds are here again, and are still better than Sunderland. #lfc

In the book:
Joe Leland (John) is retired.
Karen (his wife) is dead.
(Daughter) Stephanie works for Klaxon Oil/is seeing Ellis.
Gruber's terrorists want to steal the proceeds of and expose a corrupt deal with the Chilean junta.
Gruber takes Stephanie with him out the window.

If (eg) your personal tradition is watching Die Hard over xmas, then surely it becomes an xmas movie in your house, which is true of anything; back in the day the Back to the Future trilogy used to be on every Easter so you start associating it with Easter despite the fact no part is at all Eastery.
British public’s verdict is in: Die Hard is not a Christmas movie

A lovely story, but ... how true is it? Is there more nuance not in the letter?

Adjuvant systemic therapy had been trialled/used for breast cancer treatment for over a decade by 1993, with proposals in the literature stemming from the mid-1970s. This is a review from 1983.

There isn't a GIF, but Bakersfield PD was ahead of its time. Dry humour, no laugh track, and Giancarlo Esposito in his first (I think?) leading role in a series.

The canceled TV show you’ll never stop thinking about.

The Holiday (for Eli Wallach alone), Tokyo Godfathers, A Muppet Christmas Carol (best version of Dickens's tale), 8-Bit Christmas (unwatched and underrated), The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (very long and very excellent), Die Hard (fight me), Gremlins.
