Gonna have the phrase “ridiculous beef energy” lodged in my brain for a bit

Perhaps we can now add the phrase "deeply uncool" to the list of phrases like "that's so punk rock."

Oh wow the Mr. Delicious ad is pretty amazing. I hope there are people out there still saying "dickety dee." Perhaps it will be me.

This is the only good use of social media. Thank you.

How does one pick from these excellent slogans?:
"All the Right Stuff"
"Fast Food with Style"
"Gotta get back to Rax"
"I'd Rather Rax, Wouldn't You?"
"You can eat here"
Hard to pass up #4, but #5 is kinda perfect. Best read as a command of some type.

I, too, have never been to a rax. What am I missing? I need to know all the sandwich lore.

Pretty cool video of Added Dimensions rocking at U4 Fest in Philly last weekend. Album release show in Richmond this weekend with a pretty stacked line-up of AD, Hard Copy, Outer World, and Kitchenette. No band alike, all very good.

#RVA PSA. Good news! Nape Neck (Leeds) has been added to the Gallery 5 show happening TONIGHT. YOU SHOULD NOT MISS THIS BAND.

RIYL: The Ex, Shellac, Am Rep if it wasn't a boys club, Love of Diagrams on steroids, and a buttoned up Crass.

Sorry I won't make this. Have been a fan for a few years but not in the cards. I imagine the songs are even cooler to watch happen in person.

It was endearing as hell to watch all these folks who had gone nuts to punk for hours just lose it with delight as ESG played. Clearly everyone who wasn't a fan was won over, but also lots of people were just starstruck (in a way) and thrilled to get to see ESG. It ruled. So glad I got to see it.

People throwing stuff, stage-diving, crowd-surfing, bouncing off the walls. I was worried it was gonna be the wrong kinda moment to for them to step into and kinda sour it a bit. Instead the room just instantly melted into goo once ESG came on stage.

For one it is just cool to see Renee out there with her kids all having a blast. The "show" was great, and it was just cool as hell to watch them do it. Also, I was really worried about the scene beforehand, which was basically a party ramping up due to goofy-fun garage-rock vibes.

I had not really thought too much about seeing ESG live, as I never really thought I would, but that was better in many ways than I expected it to be. Musically it was great, they did a good job laying down all the hits with charm and aplomb, but there were extra layers to all of it.

I think this gets lost in the conversation quite frequently (though of course some people enjoy that part less than others, there's no one way to think about these things). As someone who has primarily existed as a perpetual opening band locally & live prospect it's still cool to do. I love playing.

I don’t know, one big reward for me has always been in the doing. Playing music as an activity and craft and art form rules. There is no other feeling like it when music kind of changes the air around you in just the right ways. What to do with the results is another thing lol.

Going to share this Grand Banks set I'm very proud of again. You don't need to wait until Friday to engage, it is free as it's a live set / bootleg and moment in time rather than a "release." It is as good as any release of ours though. Pastoral feedback in the woods amidst the insects/critters.

Latest Grand Banks set is up. Probably the best set we have done in some time, at least for what we are into these days. It was a lovely evening with a whole lot of good people there as well with the sound of seasons changing in Virginia as the backdrop.

Flyers get so much worse than this. There are some bad bad bad local flyers that make this approach seem charming.

Hey this crazy Philly show is coming up fast! My partner is getting to open for ESG with her band Added Dimensions, which is pretty damn great. I will be there and hey I think @averysafecat.bsky.social probably will be as well. A good time I imagine, we will try not to fuck it up.

If you are in or near Philly on Oct. 4 you, too, could see this at U4 Fest. Added Dimensions will go on some time, not even sure when, but plenty of other good bands playing as well (partial to Marbled Eye & Artificial Go in particular). A pretty good way to spend a Saturday. E S G ...
Show flyer for a one-day festival called U4 Fest taking place at Underground Arts in Philadelphia on Saturday, October 4. Doors at 12pm. Bands listed as playing are: ESG, Tee Vee Repairman, Marbled Eye, Cruelster, Artificial Go, Lothario, Nancy, Good Flying Birds, Smirk, Mopar Stars, The Smarthearts, TVO, Added Dimensions, and Lo-fives. There is a list of vendors as well that is hard to read (so I am not writing them all out). The image at the center of the flyer is an illustration of a strange figure/man walking in stride holding up a hand with 4 fingers raised.
