Dad, listener, and third-generation DC resident 🏛️. Honored to fight for our communities every day as DC’s independent Attorney General ⚖️. Official Account 🦋.
Violence is never the answer and must be swiftly condemned by all.

The National Guard are volunteers. They sign up to leave their jobs and families at a moment’s notice to serve their country.

This is a heartbreaking day for DC and our nation. My thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.

Too many tenants in the District are enduring dangerous housing violations while court proceedings drag on and negligent landlords fail to make basic repairs.

Proud to co-introduce the STRONG Homes Act led by OAG and CM White, creating stronger tools to protect tenants across #Ward4 and DC.
As the Office of the Attorney General, we focus on the buildings with the most severe housing violations.

Our new bill with @robertwhitedc.bsky.social will protect tenants in these dangerous conditions.

The STRONG Homes Act empowers DC to act faster and more effectively to ensure repairs are made.

DC CONSUMER WIN: Over 50 DC customers will get refunds after being misled by a car-sharing company.

Getaround misled customers about its insurance coverage, customer service, and vetting — then charged them large, unexpected car damage fees.

Now, it will pay $75,000 in restitution and penalties.

From the beginning, we made clear that the military should not be policing American citizens on American soil.

Normalizing the use of military troops for domestic law enforcement sets a dangerous precedent.

It is long past time to let the National Guard go home to their regular lives and families.

NEW: The Court has ruled that the National Guard deployment to DC is illegal and granted a preliminary injunction.

As we made clear from the beginning: the US military should not be policing American citizens on American soil.

This is a victory for DC, Home Rule, and American democracy.

NEW: A DC landlord will pay $10,000, train staff in fair housing, and overhaul policies that discriminated against housing voucher holders.

Portico unlawfully set higher income requirements for prospective tenants with housing subsidies.

No one should face discrimination when looking for a home.

The over 700,000 DC residents, the majority of whom are Black and Brown, are capable and worthy of governing themselves.

If residents do not like how the members of DC’s local legislature vote, residents can vote them out of office.

That is called democracy.

Why does Congress think they can set the laws that govern our local affairs? The 700,000 residents of the District elect local leaders to make those decisions. Congress must reject these bills.
We stand united against all 13 anti–DC Home Rule bills in Congress.

DC is home to more than 700,000 residents who pay taxes, run businesses, and serve in the military. Like all Americans, we deserve the right to set our own local laws.

Congress should reject this unprecedented federal overreach.

NEW: We secured a $41 million judgment over appalling conditions at Marbury Plaza in Ward 8.

For years, 2,500 tenants endured mold, leaks, rodents, and a lack of heat, AC, and hot water — while the old owner defied court orders to fix it.
