Hi! I’m new here. I’m leaving my X and want to introduce myself to BlueSky.

I’m a board game designer who’s sold over 4.5 million games. I started a company called North Star Games in 2003 that grew to 30 employees. We had 6 games on the shelf at Target before everything started to unravel.
From an email I just received…

“We just back from the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

We have seen that this series of Nature products are very popular.”

🥰♥️♥️♥️

This makes me very happy. NorthStar was in dire need of a big win like this.

I hate saying the obvious, but Trump does not plan on relinquishing power at the next election. All of these drastic measures are not random. They have a clear purpose.

The board game industry seems to be growing in Argentina. A reported 25k people attended Cultura en Juego. I noticed people playing Wits & Wagers, ThunderRoad, and Nature.

"I initially thought the 8 traits wouldn't be enough and the game would get stale quickly. Not the case at all. In that vein, I'll liken it to Carcassonne, as that's one of the simplest yet really deep games I know and love."

Soloing Nature (just the base game) - it's a lot more fun than I expected (ode from an Oceans fan) | Nature
After following it for a while, I finally picked up Nature (just the base game - no extra modules) at PAX Unplugged 2025. I got around to opening it last night, and have since played 7 games solo, wh...

This is why it’s generally a bad idea to plug the sink, turn on the faucet, and get work done while it fills up.

A silly head-to-head single elimination tournament between some of the prominent games that were released in 2025. Nature made it to the second round which made me happy. It's worth a listen if you have some free time.

The New Year started with a family reunion full of love. I could not imagine a better start for the year. The Gang, Salad Bowl (the original Monikers), and Brilliant Misfits were the biggest hits of the weekend.

I’m trying to have more fun in my life, which sometimes means chatting with people about the games I love regardless of the size of their channel. Mission accomplished. This was a fun chat for me.
Chaos Theorist Ian Malcom once posited that "Life finds a way"...well sometimes life finds ways to screw with your schedule!

We had a chance to chat with friend of the channel Dominic Crapuchettes! We talk about the Nature Climate Kickstarter, Essen, and community design!

The US is at war with Venezuela.

No Congressional authorization, no public debate, no clearly stated goal, no casus belli, and a gradual ramp up rather than big opening, so many haven’t noticed (or deny it). But this attack removes the ambiguity.

US is at war with Venezuela. With no end in sight.

It warms my heart to see one of my strategy games being played over the holiday! This is new for me.
Tenth family game for Christmas is Nature by @dcrapuchettes.bsky.social @northstargames.bsky.social , which I received as a gift. @arctick9.bsky.social and went after each other with hunters while @kbowenwriter.bsky.social scavenged and foraged her way to a narrow victory.

I played The Gang and Fate of the Fellowship for Christmas. The Gang continues to be spectacular, though honestly, breakfast with my son was the highlight of my day.

I woke up without an alarm, ate breakfast at a cozy bakery, and worked on a prototype which (fingers crossed) is my first game with a chance at a Spiel nomination.

Life is good. Happy Holidays everyone!

That was a fun event! I learned a lot about the indie TTRPG world.
September

I wrote a game for Tumulus, which is an amazing game design magazine by @exeunt.press !

I also did an Indie Tabletop event at Pure Panic Comics and Games! There, I did a panel on local game design with @stickydoodler.bsky.social , @binarystar.games , and @dcrapuchettes.bsky.social !

I accidentally started watching Tailor Swift’s tour series and I’m really impressed with how great of a leader she is. She’s truly inspirational.

I shared that with my son and he disowned me.

The second deck builder I’m working on is a dice chucker that may or may not be set in the Star Wars universe.
December 20, 2025 at 10:06 PM
I’m working on two games that I’m excited about. They’re both explorations into deck building; trying to make them more accessible without losing the depth. This is the first prototype from early 2020. You’ll notice very few words on the cards. There are less now!

My identity and my job are so intertwined that I can barely tell them apart. I can’t tell if it’s unhealthy. As a creator, perhaps it makes sense that my work and my identity are closely linked.
