I read the same or similar documents from Auschwitz’s in a 300 level gen ed writing course when earning my bachelor’s degree and my teacher carried forward this same point. Language has power. The words we use, how we use them, and when we use them is part of the construction of society.
Having relevant university memories dredged up now, and I can’t help but share.
My bachelor’s was in technical writing. In one of my first classes, the prof (noticeably queer) spent most of the time teaching clarity in writing and instructions. One lesson, he gave us documents from Auschwitz.

the Jessica biel dress is gorgeous but it has such art deco chandelier energy that it completely overtakes the person wearing it. idk of many who could wear a dress that opulent and detailed and not be outshined by the dress they’re wearing. She looks gorgeous! But that dress is hard to style
