Still, there is nuance to all the awards hype. Though “Sinners” looks to be a major Oscar player, that voting body has never nominated Jordan for his acting or Coogler for his directing — indeed, no Black filmmaker has ever won in the latter category. Asked to join the academy in 2016, Coogler declined the invitation. “It’s not out of animosity,” he told me, noting that he’s stretched thin with commitments to his film school and unions. “And I’m not good at judging things, bro. The act of ‘Hey, pick the best thing’ is very stressful for me, even when there’s no stakes involved.” He is more drawn to the everyday elements of his career than to the glamorous ballrooms. “People see the tuxedo, they see the red carpet, but it’s real blue-collar folks making these movies happen,” Coogler said, adding that he truly fell in love with filmmaking once he understood that, at its core, it’s a job. The Rutherford County Library System in Tennessee is temporarily closing two branches in order to remove books from them.

Why? Because the Secretary of State told them to do it, citing laws and Executive Orders that undermine the Constititon.

If you don't understand that removing SNAP benefits was part of the Republican plan all along, it's in Project 2025.

SNAP This section uses the outdated term “food stamps” to refer to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Specifically, the section seeks to: Increase work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents by only allowing waivers if the state’s unemployment rate is above 6 percent for more than 24 months and disallowing long-standing state flexibility to calculate the local unemployment rate. Eliminate categorical eligibility, which would remove the state options of increasing gross income eligibility from 130 percent to 200 percent of the federal poverty level and increasing/removing the asset limit. Roll back the updates to the Thrifty Food Plan that modernized the SNAP benefits formula after decades of being connected to metrics and nutritional guidance from the 1960s. Eliminate the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and create a national standardized utility allowance for households with low incomes.

Straight up lies. Like OUTRIGHT lies. White people are the greatest recipient of SNAP and this kind of propaganda (bc it's always about racism) will fuel apathy.

I'm never surprised, but this machine continues to astound me with the tried and true racism.
