What a beautiful act. Rick Steves is a treasure.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

One day something will happen — a wedding, a graduation, a job promotion, Jake Paul getting knocked out, Andrew Tate getting knocked out the next day — and you’ll want the right outfit to celebrate. Buy that special outfit now, so you’re ready when that next unexpected moment arrives.

It took Rand Paul to connect the dots between oil and Trump's war threats.
Rand Paul: "We've never in our past decided just to shoot smugglers who are unarmed without even proof they're smuggling anything. So I think this is a horrendous thing that should stop. I think it's illegal & immoral... the kids in the military - I'm not for sending them down there to die for oil"

To give is golden, especially if that gift is actual gold. For @barrons.com I explore how charitably minded folks who also bought gold ahead of its rally can donate it to their favorite non profits. www.barrons.com/articles/gol...
All That Glitters Is Gold When It Comes to Charitable Donations
Donating precious metals this year is a smart way to dodge the taxman and do good at the same time.

Speaking ill of the dead is controversial, particularly when it was a violent death. It’s edgy; it’s sensitive; best avoided in most cases, etc.

Baselessly making another person’s murder *about yourself,* and then approving of it, is a different thing. That is delusional, narcissistic, sociopathic.

Trump says Lisa Cook is unfit to be a Fed governor because she claimed two different properties as her primary residence on her mortgage applications. (Cook denies this.)

Trump did the exact same thing on mortgage applications submitted a mere 7 weeks apart.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

There is zero narrative right now about wages or incomes. Kudos to all the rich assholes at choke points in the political process that succeeded in wielding polling to keep the conservation not about what you earn relative to the rich but on the price of eggs. Master stroke.

If Animal House ever gets rebooted, this party animal deserves a role.
In addition to rum, moonshine and peanut butter whiskey, this raccoon at a Virginia liquor store also got into some vodka and eggnog. If you have not tried it, peanut butter whiskey “is excellent,” a PR manager for the store said. The raccoon apparently agreed. trib.al/XurZIQv

Hey, writers.

Come here.

No, closer.

Okay, here’s a thing I always try to remember:

You can write 24 utterly straightforward words and some people will read only 18 of them, and in the wrong order.

And nothing on earth you ever do will fix that.

We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.
