African buffalo are one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. They can way 900 kg and are apparently considered grumpy.
I’d be grumpy too if I had to carry a bunch of yelling red-billed oxpeckers around all the time!
This bull was slowly eating his way down the Sabi River in Kruger Park, SA
A bull African Buffalo crosses a river in Kruger park, South Africa. He is walking towards us and has quite large horns. He is carrying about a dozen red-billed oxpecker birds on his back. The oxpeckers are eating ticks and parasites off the buffalo and also acting as sentinels to warn the buffalo about approaching predators.

There are a lot of different eagle and hawk species in South Africa, but there was one in particular that I was hoping to see.
It was kind of hidden by branches, high in a tree , but then, this African Fish Eagle took off to check out the riverbank in the late evening light!

A potoo straight on. Its big yellow eyes are bugging out of its head, perfectly round and staring in different directions. Its left pupil is slightly more dialated than the right. An adult potoo and a baby potoo sitting on a stump. Both have their mouths slightly open. The adult blends in well with the stump, having smooth brown feathers. The baby is light brown and fluffy. Both look like muppets. A potoo at night, sitting up straight and alert. Its yellow eyes are as wide as they can be, full circles. Its wide mouth is closed and its beak is upturned giving it a comical frown. It looks like Beaker from the muppets: concerned and flustered. There are still a few Swans hanging around in Southern Manitoba...pretty late in the season but there is still open water so I suppose they are not in a rush☺️ #birds

Hi there!
This giraffe took time out from munching on leaves to check us out for a few seconds. At over 5 meters tall, they eat the leaves that no body else can reach!
