You see lots of Snoopy plush out there, but yesterday I found a Lucy Van Pelt “Palm Pal”. “Buy me, you blockhead!”

No matter how unrelated they are to my trip, I certainly manage to come back with Snoopy souvenirs. These are from my recent San Diego trip.

Today @unpackingpeanuts.bsky.social takes a look at the first family of Peanuts, The Family Van Pelt! (Surprisingly, it’s not the Brown household, as Sally didn’t show up until almost a decade after Charlie Brown).

This book is a treasure trove of early Snoopy from the mid-1950s, when Snoopy was evolving away from his puppy days into an elongated dog with a big nose.

Well, blow me down! That spinach-loving sailor Popeye made his debut in E. C. Segar's comic strip 'Thimble Theatre' on this day in 1929. You can catch him along with other OG faces from the newspaper comics pages in our exhibition 'Sunday Funnies' on display now. #Popeye #spinach #comics #exhibition
