Proudly representing Denver in the U.S. House. Fighting for our environment, public lands & reproductive rights. Wife. Mom. Grandma. Dog lover.
Reopening broken coal plants doesn’t lower energy bills—it raises them. This administration is doing everything it can to increase costs for Coloradans and punish our state.

I led a letter last year urging the EPA to reverse course and leave Colorado alone.

Colorado's coal plant closures and clean air policies go too far, Trump's EPA says while rejecting plans
The Trump administration Friday further eroded Colorado's longstanding mandates to close coal-fired power plants by 2031, saying the state's required regional haze-fighting plan goes too far and violates...

Great news: a federal judge just temporarily blocked Trump’s attempt to freeze funds for childcare and food assistance in Colorado.

His effort is illegal, and I will continue to fight his blatant politicization of funds that help the most vulnerable families in our state.

I had the honor of serving in Congress with @GabbyGiffords for 5 years before she was shot and almost killed 15 years ago today. Her spirit was unbreakable then, and it remains so now through @giffords_org.

I am proud to call Gabby my friend and to stand with her in the fight against gun violence.

This health care affordability crisis did not appear overnight.
Democrats sounded the alarm for a year.
Donald Trump and Republicans responded by passing their Big Bad Bill to kick 15 million people off their health care— all to fund billionaires’ tax breaks.
Remember who they chose.

Congressman Steny Hoyer epitomizes what public service is about - a willingness to do anything to make the lives of the American people better.

He has been a mentor & ally for my entire career as he helped lead our caucus through challenging moments, intense debates, & legislative victories.

Donald Trump’s attempt to freeze funding for vulnerable kids in Colorado is illegal, and I’ll be working with AG Phil Weiser to stop it.

We must fight Trump’s unlawful actions in the courts, because Republicans in Congress have shown they are unwilling to stand up to him in Washington.

The reports coming out of Minneapolis of a federal agent shooting and killing an American citizen are deeply alarming.

ICE must leave Minneapolis immediately to deescalate the situation and the administration must be held accountable.
Live: Homeland Security says woman shot by ICE agent has died

Extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits is a short term fix to lower health care costs, and we're forcing a vote to do just that.

But I know that our health care system needs major reform. That’s why I have championed universal health care as the top Democrat on the Health Subcommittee.

This admin is making unreasonable demands of Denver Health and Children's Hospital Colorado, forcing them to stop critical care for kids who need it, risking their mental and physical health at risk. If Trump finalizes these cruel policies, I'll introduce a bill to overturn them.

Children’s Hospital Colorado, Denver Health pause gender-affirming care for minors again
The Trump administration threatened to cut Medicare and Medicaid payments for all patients, for all types of care, which would be financially crippling to hospitals.

Today, I stood with my colleagues in the House and Senate to mark the 5th anniversary of the January 6 insurrection and to thank the men and women of law enforcement who helped defend the Capitol that day.

I was in the gallery that day. I will never forget the terror I saw.

Donald Trump’s decision to take federal benefits from vulnerable children in Colorado is vindictive and illegal. I vehemently oppose his actions of political retribution against our state. This devastating freeze will take food from families across the state, in red and blue areas. buff.ly/sWNLR8z

Five years ago today, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to storm the Capitol in an attempt to overturn a free and fair election — the most brazen attack on our own government by a sitting president in American history.

This reckless change in the vaccine schedule by RFK Jr. and his hand-picked team of anti-vaxxers is a direct attack on the health of every American. It abandons decades of rigorous evidence and concern for the health and wellbeing of American families.

In 2026, I remain committed to defending our democracy and standing up for Denverites’ shared values.

That means protecting the vulnerable, resisting RFK Jr.'s relentless attacks against science, and defending reproductive freedom.

That’s what I’m fighting for this year.

While Nicolas Maduro is certainly an illegitimate leader, the United States does not have the authority to unilaterally invade another country, capture its leader and his wife, and haul them to the United States.

In one year under RFK Jr.’s failed leadership, America is less safe.

Preventable disease outbreaks. Gutted research programs. Mass firings of public health experts & staff.

Saddened to learn of the passing of former CO Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell.

Sen. Nighthorse Campbell was a strong advocate for Colorado and served as one of the few Native Americans in the history of our Congress. He was truly one of a kind, and I am thinking of his family in the wake of his loss.
