There are 3 of us who were close with her and we would all love to tell him how much she talked about him, how much she loved him and hated being so far away from him. How brilliant and hilarious she was and how she made us love the Violent Femmes and Elvis Costello.

After the book I tried to find her again. I had visited their house in Berkeley and knew the truth about who did most of the care-taking — and then reading her response in Harper's broke my heart. I no longer wanted to talk to Dave, especially after her death.

This cuts me to my core. I was good friends and roommates with Beth when she was at UVM, and remained friends with her into our 20s. We lost touch after she got married. I've always wanted to connect with Dave and Toph (we knew him as Topher-he was 3!) to talk about her.
