West of the ocean? Dagsboro DE
@sluggodoug.bsky.social When I was a kid, we had a dentist that would give us coupons for free ice cream. I had a lot of cavities when I was a kid ...
@sluggodoug.bsky.social Thx for Robyn Hitchcock earlier. One of my favorite albums that dammit I lost at a party or inside a CD changer!
Gonna miss @crampell.bsky.social's columns because I read -- not watch -- analysis and opinions. Especially well written and thoughtful pieces.
@sluggodoug.bsky.social We found Bear by the roadside when she was a kitten. Now she checks out squirrels and rabbits as an indoor cat.
@sluggodoug.bsky.social If B52s are the best party band, are Bad Manners 2nd? So much fun! 🎶 "Inner London Violence" 🎶
@sluggodoug.bsky.social Walking the sandbar in Indian River Bay DE. BTW speaking of photo processing, "One Hour Photo" with Robin Williams. Creepy ...
@sluggodoug.bsky.social Bad Manners! BTW a ton of fun live!
Because they can't vote? #SeniorEntitlement
check out that chyron. this is where we're at.
Trump just withdrew the United States from the World Health Organization.

The US is now the only country in the world besides Liechtenstein to not be a member of the organization.
My kid started with the DE Senate this week as a LA and is now going to lead pressers for McBride's seat until a new Senator is elected? [mind blown]
Great piece. I think [emphasis added] that the tug of war is between political points ("Save dozens of jobs in my district!") and diffuse benefits ("That's ten cents less for millions"). All *economics* are local?
Economists are in the wilderness. Politicians and the public have rejected their advice on everything from trade to climate change. They held comparatively little sway under Biden, and stand to hold less under Trump. Can they find their way back to influence?

Economists Are in the Wilderness. Can They Find a Way Back to Influence? (Gift Article)
Economists have long helped to shape policy on issues like taxes and health care. But flawed forecasts and arcane language have cost them credibility.

My kid, after an afternoon of shoveling: "Million-dollar homes and they don't want to pay $70 to get dug out."

Me: "Seniors."
10 minutes ago on Indian River Bay ... and maybe once every 10 years! 🥶
Yes, Virginia, it snows on Delmarva.
Time to shake those boundaries -- not reinforce them.

The problem is people were told to invest in the American Dream -- even though it's a highly illiquid, immobile, undiversified asset class. Build more, prices level, seniors get cranky. Another example of skewed expectations.
The evidence is clear: building a lot of new housing at all income levels keeps prices down—and reduces homelessness. This great new video by @justineunderhill.bsky.social will likely be the first thing I send people getting interested in the housing crisis.

Had a relative praise EM for his "business" approach to government. Problems: 1. Taxpayers hate risk 2. Incumbents hate change 3. Contractors lobby. Good luck!
