I've read and heard that Loughbrough (pronouced "Luffbura" or thereabouts) often foxes non-English speakers, with "Loogabarooga" being one of the more charming mispronunciations.

Wrekin, when it's pronounced like "wreckin" instead of like "reekin". Also Madely pronounced like "madly" instead of like "maidly"

I was lucky enough to be living in London in the 1990s when she appeared in a number of stage productions and I was privileged to see her performing the Alan Bennett monologues A Woman of No Importance and A Lady of Letters, and also in The Corn is Green and Carousel. She was a wonderful actress.

Such sad news. I was lucky enough to see her on stage in London performing Alan Bennett monologues and in Carousel and The Corn is Green. She was great as Hyacinth and Hetty, but her talents went so much further . Rest in Peace dear lady.
