Not even considering that standardised tests are fucking stupid to begin with; because it ignores creative problem solving and teaching people how to self-teach, but having them and not teaching for them is the worst possible combo!
That's just using 'self-teaching' as an excuse to not do their job.

They did their very best to ruin it, by half-baking a sequel, not delivering on anything new (PvE, mods etc, just minor graphics changes), and then killing it to force people to buy the second.

what you're spelling out, and if you have to do that for *every* word in a sentence, I can understand why it would often be easier just to turn the system off entirely.
Tiny ass phone keyboards often force me to do the same in English, and it drives me fucking insane!

Trying to write it with a keyboard needs an interpretive extra step as the computer auto-fills-

use writing systems like that, and in Japan there has been a gradual shift away from concept-oriented characters towards phenomes with younger generations, simply because its easier for more people.
Give it another 50 or 100 years and Kanji might be like a cursive signature or for proper nouns only.

Chinese education being based so heavily on memorization makes sense, because the language system forces you to get good at it. Not just the meaning of every word in the language, but also each one's individual glyph.

...That honestly sounds even more insane, because there's literally thousands of characters, while both Japanese and Korean have either options for phonetic writing, or are fully phonetic respectively.
