For any new followers - you can expect me to post mostly about the NBA (especially the Knicks) and NFL (Giants), music, politics, and American involvement in the Middle East.

I'm also here for the jokes... lots of jokes

I really hope Jaxson Dart develops into a legitimate starting QB, the man is just fun and the Giants haven't had "fun" at QB in a LONG time

Is it too late to send Mikal back to Brooklyn and get our picks back? 😂

One of a million reasons why Jordan is the undisputed goat 😂 LeBron can't stop doing corny things
derekbodner.bsky.social
I had no doubt the LeBron decision was going to be an ad, and yet it still somehow came out cornier than expected.

anyway, looking forward to bari weiss restoring “trust in news” where “trust in news” means pumping out propaganda for your oligarch boss

Nothing would make me happier lol. I'm going into this season desperately hoping that KAT/Mikal/Mike Brown make me into a believer
desmoney.bsky.social
Nobody on the Knicks roster (maybe Brogdon?) has demonstrated elite playmaking imo. Josh Hart was the best passer last year 😂
desmoney.bsky.social
He's a great player and an elite scorer but yeah I don't think he's a top tier playmaker. I always felt like Randle was better at that specific thing and the Knicks never really replaced that skill. Hopefully Clarkson/Brogdon/Hart can do it
desmoney.bsky.social
Mike Brown talking about the Knicks needing more pace is kinda funny to me. Like he's 100% right but it's funny how many people thought the Knicks' pace issues were entirely a "Thibs problem" and not a "JB + KAT like to pound the rock" problem.

It'll be interesting to see what he can actually do...

Donald Trump shut down the government because he doesn't want you to have healthcare.

But this isn’t just on him. Democrats MUST use their leverage to protect our rights, but it can’t end there.

Schumer and Jeffries can’t just go on TV or write letters, they need clear demands. We need action now.

I think you're the one missing the point here. My point is whining/boycotting Bill Burr while you continue to buy iPhones, Nikes, and Saudi oil for your car is a contradiction. You either care about these issues enough to act accordingly, or you just chase low hanging fruit for social media clout
desmoney.bsky.social
CBS is cooked. Bari Weiss is an absolute shill and I wouldn't trust her editorial judgement one bit.

So we got the Murdochs potentially buying TikTok, Bari Weiss potentially running CBS, and Elon running Twitter?
desmoney.bsky.social
That's literally not even close to the same thing. Target's sales were hurting as a result of ACTUAL ACTION. Bill Burr isn't going to feel a thing unless everybody stops going to his shows and even if social media pressures him into dropping out - it won't change the fact we prop up these regimes
desmoney.bsky.social
Like yes, in a perfect world people with platforms wouldn't do shows or business in countries with awful human rights records. But how can we hold our celebrities to a higher standard than we hold our leaders or ourselves?

We sadly care about these things as long as it's not inconvenient to us.

The Chinese genocide of the Uighurs barely registers over here, the Gulf states abuse of migrant workers barely registers over here, US military aid and arms sales to places like Egypt barely registers over here... But we're mad at comedians for whitewashing human rights abuses?
desmoney.bsky.social
It feels like this outrage about Bill Burr and other comedians doing this comedy festival in Riyadh is performative.

We buy clothes/phones from a genocidal regime, our cars run on oil from oppressive regimes, and we sell weapons to numerous authoritarian regimes. But Bill Burr is the problem?

So far today, Chuck Schumer has said his strategy for preventing Trump sending troops into blue cities is to win over Republican senators (!) while Hakeem Jeffries praised Eric Adams's courage and authenticity (!!) while refusing to endorse Mamdani. Again.

These two gotta go.

You think his hands are good enough? I always wondered why they didn't use him more in that role lol

Is it worse when they stay dead *OR* when they fake you out, you get upset, and then they pop back out later with some ridiculous explanation for why they were secretly alive the whole time? 😂

Anne Applebaum said it best, one of the first things that happens during an authoritarian takeover is that the opposition party fractures because they no longer understand the rules of the game. Ezra Klein feels like a lifelong liberal who doesn't fully understand where we're at and what his role is
desmoney.bsky.social
I'm not against calling out bad takes by political pundits, we should do so whenever appropriate. But the haste in which it feels like everyone is rushing to condemn him as a fake progressive, a rich white guy bought by the billionaire donor class, etc etc, feels deeply counterproductive...
desmoney.bsky.social
I think Ezra Klein was absolutely wrong with his stance about Charlie Kirk (and inviting Shapiro on his podcast) and Ta-Nahesi Coates absolutely took him to school. That being said, can we stop pretending EK is the anti-Christ and instead hope that his conversation with Coates improves his POV?
