There’s something about an early morning walk across campus that is a nice way to start the day - the light was beautiful.

Trying to notice the good things.

Of course I agree that education and critical thinking are key, but I also think that there could be well-educated folks who might not trust science right now. Seems likely that the science community is going to have to think about what to do on multiple fronts.

This article about trust in scientists is interesting, thought-provoking, and perhaps a little depressing. How do we change trust? Do others have ideas? #science

so.... NIH issued a news item clarifying the new use of animals policy.

It seems that the bottom line is that NIH will not issue NoFOs specifically about creation or use of animal models of disease.

I’ve officially moved to BlueSky - yes i’m a little slow! You’ll soon get a following notice from me as I ‘bridged’ my X account - I hope that wasn’t a mistake.

My quote of the day

Strong men - men who are truly role models - don't need to put down women to make themselves feel powerful. People who are truly strong lift others up. People who are truly powerful bring others together.

The #BethesdaDeclaration stories are now up on the front pages of both the New York Times and the Washington Post.

Thanks again to the brave folks at NIH who stood up and worked together to make this happen.

It's publication day for 📘Elusive Cures. What a moment! 1st book, 1st time on Mindscape (which, as many of you know, is one of my favorite podcasts).

Here, @seanmcarroll.bsky.social and I have a wide-ranging conversation around: Why are brain and mental disorders so hard to understand and treat?
