Ran nearly twice as many kilometers this year as last year. Still averaging the same pace though. Guess I'll have to pick up the pace next year...

Had to replace the seat on my Steelcase Gesture chair because the material was splitting down the side and around the back. Easy warranty replacement, but a bit concerning given I've only used it for three years.

Oh software development... sometimes it's writing several hundred lines of tests to verify a two line fix.

You'll never convince me that the The Simpsons didn't peak with the Hank Scorpio episode.

One of the nice things we still have is new music discovery. Today for me it's South Arcade and How 2 Get Away with Murder. Y2KCORE indeed.

Genuinely not sure if Git worktrees actually makes things better or worse when working on multiple features. It's nice to have a little tool support, but things like `node_modules` having to be installed in each tree makes it a bit clunky.

I assume I'm the only one that says to themselves at the end of the workday "That'll do, pig. That'll do."?

Very late to the party, but quite enjoying Wet Dream by Wet Leg. Music video is suitably unhinged too.

For various reasons it's been ages since I've used my DT-990s to listen to music. Quality headphones really do make a difference. So much more ... depth? ... to the sound coming out of them compared to the Jabra headset I usually end up using out of laziness...

Salt Apple Butter Potato Chips from a farmer's market in Obuse. They taste exactly like what you'd expect.

Did not expect to see rack mount gacha. Guess enterprise nerds need gacha trinkets too.

The latest gaming discourse has reminded me that Amiga Power existed. Fond memories of reading the oftentimes snarky reviews. I wonder what happened to some of the writers like Stuart Campbell... <goes to Wikipedia> ... oh... oh no.

It's been a while.

Glad to be announcing a new game, and happy that it is something experimental and weird: a tiny, tense, turn-based strategy game about merging units into spectacular combinations, and then watching them evaporate thousands of bugs.

Not sure about this move to permanent battery smoke detectors. Now I have to spend $100 per-unit to replace them rather than like $5 for good 9V battery...

LLM agent prompting is cursed. The recommended wrapper for handoffs politely asks the agent not to mention the handoff:

"Transfers between agents are handled seamlessly in the background; do not mention or draw attention to these transfers in your conversation conversation with the user."

This video of an earth quake slip is mesmerising. Just seeing the earth move that far that fast is... terrifying? Ground should not move.

Had a chance to watch all of the mainline Alien movies recently. Been thinking about a ranking and I think it's:

1. Alien
2. Aliens
3. Alien 3
4. Prometheus
5. Alien: Covenant
6. Alien: Romulus
7. Alien: Resurection
