Previously, fast-moving units were difficult to target, now, with the new targeting system, any enemy craft within your selection area will be automagically queued as targets for your currently selected ship. Even fast movers can’t escape now! 😈

I was playing 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗜𝗜𝗜 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗱 a while ago. I was losing a one-on-one fight, and instead of accepting defeat, I also hit some random 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗡𝗣𝗖𝘀 to save face and claim to the audience that I was ganged up on when I finally lost the 𝘄𝗮𝗿.

Haven't touched my project for 2 weeks now, tho I'm still doing other gamedev related thingy helping a friend on the Vulkan project in C# 🤭 but I'm kitbashing some new ship for my RTS game in Godot.

Real SoloDevs don’t use tools. They build the tools… compiler? Built it. Image editor? Wrote it. 3D modeler? Coded it. OS?
Booted it from scratch. Sleep? Optional 😅

When I say "I'm a #SoloDev" I don't mean I single-handedly created the engine, the game, and all of the assets. I don't mean I'm not going to credit other people for their contributions. What I mean is: "If this thing goes under, I'm the only one that's left unemployed."

As a solodev and someone who does a lot of freelancing, I'm always a little weirded out about the discourse surrounding solo + contractors.

I do 85% of the work on my title. I've done 5% work on other people's titles. It's all dev, but it's not the *same*, right.

Slow progress in Build UI : Creating a (UI) for games isn't necessarily difficult; it's more tedious and time-consuming. The real challenge lies in making the UI responsive, intuitive, and performant across different screen sizes. Not final : D

It's been a very busy week at work, currently in the middle of a server upgrade, development on my game project has been a bit slower than usual. That said, I still managed to make some progress! I worked on refining the Cruiser's thruster engine.

Never take good suggestions for granted from friends here. After some adjustments, the attack bomber missile launch has been a little bit improved and now wobble. Hopefully,
a few more tweaks and we'll have it running smoothly!

Implemented a toggleable Ship Indicator system last night, that allows to selectively display or hide visual markers for Friendly, Mine, and Enemy vessels. This feature is designed to improve tactical awareness and reduce on-screen clutter during high-intensity combat scenarios. #GameDev

Some progress: Attack bomber missiles are already implemented, but it feel a bit bland. Maybe it could follow a curved trajectory before locking onto the main ship to add more visual and realism...

Not much progress today. I juz tested the game using the Top-Down typical RTS camera along with the new targeting system. Sometimes I win against the AI, sometimes I lose, this time,I lost!😄Also, I managed to fix the stuttering bugs on explsions✌️

I'm not entirely sure what went wrong 😅 I had the same number of units, same factions, yet I lost a battle against the AI, but anyway, the engine's lens flare effects are now functioning. ^_^y

While the Attack Bomber AI is still underdev, I've added new camera mode. 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲: The camera will lock onto the ship and follow it from a dynamic perspective for an immersive view of the battle, like you're piloting the ship in real-time : )

It's satisfying if you can hear your ship getting hit and even more impactful when it explodes with a powerful sound effects. Adding distinct audio cues for damage and destruction enhances the players immersion and provides immediate feedback during battles.

Tried to balance the power of weaponry based on ship types, a group of 3 Cruiser ships should be able to defeat a 3 Attack Fighters as Cruiser-Ships are more heavily armed and durable. However, a dozen Attack-Fighters can overpower 3 Cruiser ships...

How about a swarm of Fast-Attack Fighter-Craft launching a coordinated assault against large enemy warship, striking from all directions to overwhelm its defenses, this isn't the final AI attack mode, it can be improved later : )

Had some free time last night, fixed the Cruiser Class Ship's secondary weapon targeting : ) I couldn't fix it earlier becoz I needed to create debug lines to visualize whether the aiming was correct, 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝘂𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 is really a pain! #GameDev #IndieDev #SoloDev #Godot #RTS
