I've been really thinking about how to bring Everway to an actual play. I think the hardest part will be drawing the cards - because we only record remotely, it means that only I would be drawing them, and that feels like it's taking some of the fun out of it

Shade: Has never taken a weekend off in their life, and the thought of doing so is laughable to them.

Cassian: Drink n' Dashing every bar in a settlement.

Munchkin: Wandering in and out of random buildings to find the perfect nap spot.

Tah'na: Trying to swim through money like Scrooge McDuck.

Depends on the character:

Kuhro - light drinking and heavy gambling
Ishka - underwater treasure hunting
Redacted - setting up elaborate Rube Goldberg machines to prank travelling companions

Happy Friday! What would your TTRPG character do with a weekend off?

Some light pillaging? Dangerous quest? Hot bath?
a group of three men are talking and one of them says " you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission quest thing "

6. Don’t shy away from magic-users because magic is more complicated. Magic is also magical to kids.

7. TTRPGs are not the best place to teach kids about death.

8. Listen to their ridiculous ideas.

9. Encourage them to draw after the session.

10. Let them DM.

1. Let them make bad choices because bad choices are more fun.

2. Make every natural 1 as much fun as a natural 20 to get them to embrace character failure.

3. Don’t teach them to make optimal characters — they will learn fast enough on their own.

4. Embrace the Wild.

5. Know their boundaries.

Help streamline characters but embrace their character ideas! Encourage them to think of npcs (but make sure they’re happy with that they can be good or bad or different!) random quirky npcs might be asked to join the party.. be excitable and offer experiences (I offered potions)

I run a monthly game with kids (6 at a time) ranging from 6-10.

Keep things short and simple. My games are usually only an hour long and tend to center around one primary problem or encounter.

“The village wants the giant to stop eating their sheep.”

Keep things moving at all costs!

So many!
-Focus on what they want to do, then tell them what to roll instead of expecting them to know it.
-Keep the stakes small to start with.
-Let them get some easy wins while they're learning the system.
-'Yes and' their bonkers ideas as much as you can without breaking the game.
