I'm not sure if it makes it worse or not, but it was a zero stakes vote as the confirmation passed comfortably. He could have performatively voted no and hugged his friend after, but he chose to publicly support. Yikes.

If you acknowledge that it would likely not work, then why pretend that this conversation is about education when it's really about virtue signaling. Im actually interested in exposing them to progressive ideas, and they have been getting more receptive. Having real conversations with people helps!

Do you think they would be more likely to listen if I pitched them ideas about how trump is ruining our society, or if i called their favorite talk show hosts fascist pigs? I'm not saying be afraid to go low when it calls for it. But we're trying to pull people over.
