but LAD broke up things starting w/a R in 6th. They'd do the same in 7 & 8 resulting in a 5-1 W w/only 3H 1BB allowed by Yamamoto while getting 7 Ks. A brilliant performance backed by great DEF to get ground outs & fly outs. Peralta started off good through 5 & looked sharp. The wheels fell off in

Yamamoto ended up throwing a complete game to pickup 2nd W in the NCLS championship series against the Brewers. He gave up a HR in the 1st inning but the longer he went the smoother things got. It was Yamamoto's 1st CG & the team's 1st postseason CG since 2017. The game was close through 5 at 2-1

Pat Ragazzo of SI is reporting that the Mets are hiring Kai Correa as their bench coach. Correa has been w/the Guardians as their field coordinator as well as in charge of strategy for the team most recently. He was a bench coach w/the Giants prior in 2020-23.

SNY is reporting per Jeff Passan at ESPN, Jeff Albert will be in charge of the Mets hitting program next year. He is in that role (director of hitting development) currently so he's another "keep" on the staff.

The TN Titans have fired their head coach Brian Callahan because of their 1-5 record so far this season. Meanwhile in NY the Jets who are 0-6 & the only winless team in the NFL are... doing... something... maybe... probably not. Another rough year for Jets fans it seems. 🤷😒

The Bills took a 24-14 loss to the Falcons last night raising concern after 2 not so great performances in a row. Time to round up the wagons and figure out what's going on lest this continues.

that lowers the risk of bullpen issues. Toronto is in a similar boat w/Yesavage going 4IP but giving up 5ER followed by 7 relievers including Bassitt filling in. That's even worse relief usage & the Jays got pounded.

The Mariners destroyed the Blue Jays 10-3 to take game 2 and put them 2-0 in the series. Rodriguez, Polanco & Naylor all got HRs. No Seattle pitcher went more than a few innings. Gilbert had 3IP & then it was 2IP from the pen from there. We'll see how that impacts game 3 but today is an off day so

Game 2 is in TBS tonight at 8p. This could be a pitching duel too with Yamamoto v Peralta as SPs. The Brewers are odds on favorites by only a few percentile points.

The Dodgers beat the Mariners 2-1 mostly due to LAD SP Snell putting in 8 excellent innings of no run work & Freeman getting a HR in the 9th to avoid extra innings. They're 1-0 in the series.

SNY reports that ex-Mets coach & player Sandy Alomar Sr has passed away at 81 yo. Sandy was a beloved coach from 2005-09 in a Mets team that included his son Sandy Jr. He played from 1964-78 & was a Met in 67. He was w/the Yankees in 74-76 & All Star in 70 w/the Angels. RIP Sandy.

The Mariners have struck first winning game 1 of the ACLS against the the Blue Jays 3-1. Game 2 is today at 5p on FOX.

The Brewers v the Dodgers at 8p ET on TBS starting off the NLCS.

Somebody is going to win these games. I"m going for vague & indecisive this round. 🤷‍♂️😂

And then there were 4. Tonight begins the ACLS Championship series at 8p ET on FOX. The Blue Jays take on the Mariners in what might be one of the most unexpected series in a longtime. Back in April they were both unlikely to be here. Then game play started & that changed more everyday. Here we are.

The Brews W over the Cubs 3-1 last night sending them onto face the Dodgers tomorrow for the NLCS series title. I didn't think they had it. Many did it. We were wrong. Clearly wrong.

SNY is reporting Alonso wants a 7 year contract as a free agent. Will this past season change minds and attract a signer after failing to get the that same contract term earlier this year? We'll see. I think the Mets might offer 5 years but I suspect 7 is a bit much. 🤷‍♂️⚾️

The West Point Army Black Knights beat Charlotte 24-7 in a well played game. Army looked more in form and now is 3-3 for the season. Next up is Tulane on 10/18/25 at 12p. 🙌🏈🪖

Also Skubal K'd 7 batters in a row setting a postseason record for consecutive Ks in a game. 8 pitchers had previously had 6 straight Ks in a playoff game. Blue Jays pitcher Yesavage in Game 2 of ALDS against the Yankees this past Sunday was the most recent. Skubal stand alone though at the top.🤯
