That's a good question. I actually wondered the same thing & they really do not say on the MLBN article. I'm going to assume that at the very least it has to be a mutually accepted offer with some sort of signing commitment. If so, that is a pretty short window to work in if he has no offers now.

argument but I'm also sure the NBA won't be too happy to have that quiet part said out loud. The Knicks goal? The actual end of season NBA Championship of course. A pennant flag worth raising indeed if it happens.

injury plague in the near past. The hope here would be to keep him healthy (ugh) & be a very viable option for SP. Though a Padre he's a FA so this doesn't appear to be the other Padres target that would've been a trade situation w/possible Tong or others.

Similar to me though what pops to them is his xERA that was elite (90pctl) this past season. Honestly okay w/this one. Not amazing but workable stuff. We'll need to see who does get the closer though & maybe it will be situational.

stats seem to be the primary focus to make the case for the signing. His Statcast shows some top 10% stats too again suggesting some changes made for positive improvement. He gets compared to John Lester & Jose Quintana as far as his stuff goes. SNY dives into some other tempting stats they saw.

Weaver has been in the MLB for 10 seasons & is 32yo. It all sounds good but career stats wise he's got a 4.74 ERA but a lot of that is a swell in hits during the 2020-2023 period. From 2016 to 2019 he was 4.37ERA & more importantly from 2024-2025 he was 3.26ERA. While not great overall those latter

their own way. Brunson was about control & DEF. Anunoby was a big scorer that 1st 1/2 & kept up w/the Spurs frantic score pace during that very fast half of play. Either way the boys did good work & now come home to MSG w/the Cup. FINALLY something good happens in NYC sports again.
