The thing I'm possibly most proud of with this one is somehow finding two pieces of art in a roughly similar style, that mirror each other so well.

By two different artists, no less!

This kind of thing is usually a big issue for custom DFCs, inconsistent art breaks the overall design.

Day 11 - Transformation

Really struggled to find something I was happy with and was considering skipping a day. Ultimately found an idea alluding to Persephone which I'm happy enough to present.

I like the effects, I think they're flavourful, but maybe haven't fully considered the balance.

Day 10 - Constellation

Tried a ton of ideas to avoid just using the existing Constellation text, all of them were a bit naff.

Then @ellie.wubrgsky.org had an idea I liked, "what if Cosima's ability was a mechanic?"

Adjusted slightly and needs a further rework, but this is the early shell.

Compact dropped the Finality counters for ease of board state readability
New wording opens up potential for specific tokens like Offspring had, as no Compact text needed on the tokens.

Moxtober this year has really got the ideas flowing. I'm trying to commit to cycles for each new mechanic I design, for use in potential future sets.

Here's an updated version of Compact, and a mythic Mechatitan cycle. First, Abolition, Submersion and Declension Mechatitan.

Everyone should play against my Darigaaz deck, if only to see the impact having a reasonable amount of interaction in your deck can have.

This deck takes it to the extreme, but it makes it clear that removal is a vital cog in the machine that is an EDH game.

Day 9 - Compact

Anticipate a busy day tomorrow, so going early with this one.

Compact is a mechanic that goes on artifacts. Think a reverse Offspring.

The finality counters are to prevent loops, but still leave a small window open to pull them off it you also have a way to manipulate counters.

If you play these as a land on T1, this is how you get T4 8/8.

T1 - remove counter on end step, 7 remaining.
T2 - pay 2, remove on end step, 5 remaining.
T3 - pay 2, remove on end step, 3 remaining.
T4 - pay 2, pay 2, remove on end step, 0 remaining.

You now have an 8/8, but nothing else.

The second of them is the blue one, Tidnus, the Dormant Flood.

The idea is the triggered ability is balanced between developing the game, and powering through the time counters.

In theory, you can - by doing nothing else with your mana - get all the time counters off by the end of T4.

This is not a Moxtober 2025 submission. However, the Dormant mechanic evoked an idea for my custom set "Gloomsday", for a cycle of mythic rare Dormant Legends.

Day 8 - Punish

I also enjoy coming up with mechanics named for the prompt. Punish is an ability word that checks to see if an opponent lost 3 or more life this turn.

Likely centred in B/R in limited, but because it doesn't specify how the damage is dealt, can open up to other colours on occasion.

Day 7 - Power

Quick backstory. I made Divine Restoration in 2023 with the intent to complete at least an enemy colour cycle over the rest of 2023, and into 2024.

I didn't. So when the 2025 prompt list came out, I earmarked a couple of prompts for new entries into the cycle.

Power is the first.
