Probably because it was already out by the time this was made, which I presume to be shortly after E3 2014. Same reason there's no Pikmin 3, 3D World, etc from what I can tell.

I mean...we kinda did. Took twenty years for it to actually come out, but...

What if Star Fox was creatures?

#StarFox
A cartoony drawing of a scene featuring Star Fox spaceships and robots, reimagined as cutesy creatures. An Arwing shoots a laser at a moth-like creature in the air, while a round slug-like creature watches from the ground. In the background, an Arwing is chased by a pointy orange creature, another Arwing flies high, and a big gray creature with long arms carries a blue pole.

Who do you think owns Illumination?

Yeah it's a somewhat common misconception, James WAS rivals with Wolf (and that's why Wolf wants to fight off Fox so badly), but it was ultimately Andross and Pigma that did him in.

2. Rare themselves didn't have enough faith in Dinosaur Planet as its own late stage N64 original IP, so they willingly accepted Miyamoto's offer to essentially combine their two projects and move development over to GCN. Per admitted by its director, Lee Schuneman: youtu.be/rO7ocvmoDBc?...

It was basically because
1. Nintendo themselves were already wanting to make an action adventure SF game in Kyoto, it wasn't going anywhere because it was late into the N64's lifespan and the staff were being pulled away to work on more important stuff like Mario and Zelda for GCN

Ah yes, random unthemed Six Flag coasters, just how I remembered Magic Kingdom.

I actually remember being kinda shocked and confused seeing Spinosaurus with a thinner, "duck like" head in Jurassic Park 3.
dinoman96.bsky.social
Ah the good ol' days when Spinosaurus was presented as literally just a generic theropod with a sail bolted on its back.

And then Star Fox Guard had a conspicuously Nabbit shaped robot as an enemy, "Nabbot"

and unpopular in PAL regions. SNES and N64 sold 23.35 million and 20.63 million respectively, whereas in other non-JP regions, they sold 8.58 million and 6.75 million respectively. Meanwhile in Japan, the SNES sold 17.17 million...whereas the N64 sold only 5.54 million. God damn.

That's what makes the N64 kinda interesting to me. It tends to be lumped in with Nintendo's other failed consoles like GCN and Wii U but it's interesting how outside of Japan (where it indeed totally cratered), the N64 was actually business as usual for Nintendo: just as popular as the SNES in NA

And the craziest thing is that all entirely on Nintendo themselves.

It's a mentality he definitely had with the Star Fox IP, alright...

Same reason we still don't have DK64 four years into the N64 app's lifespan: Because Nintendo wants to milk and drip feed this shit for years and years.

Elarix uncovered a cut game mode from SF64 that essentially was a big tribute to Starblade and even restored it via modding: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmZl...

Funny enough they said it wasn't a bad game per se, and that most of their disappointment with it came from Snake being benched for Raiden.

Funny enough, we technically DID get a new F-Zero game of some kind in his wake, that being F-Zero 99 in 2023, and Imamura has said he wasn't aware of its development. But TBF that's definitely a much smaller and cheaper thing that was probably thrown together in a year or less.

I definitely knew that painted a grim prospect for any major F-Zero or Star Fox game being made at that point and time. I feel like if there was, he would have stuck around to see them finished.
