@nerdjpg.com is a case study in bad faith Marxist trolling.

This is a tone-shift and power-shift move. She’s moved from irony 2 a kind of rhetorical framing test:
trying to re-center the discussion on *her* preferred ground: “define Marxism.”

Modern russia is so Anti-communist that it's a pretty good indicator if someone is arguing in bad faith if they pretend otherwise.

real talk I’m considering Mexico or Singapore as a better option for long term migration plans, Vancouver is one of the best cities I’ve ever lived in and I love how possible it feels to be able to make a difference there but overall I’m getting very worried about Canada’s 5 year political outlook

Pritzker should be held responsible for the police nominally under his control; that being said, this is going to be a problem for every politician you try to sell us on as a savior. Because everyone of them, and many of their supporters, refuses to actually confront what the police are doing.

this is the list of ideological identifiers laid out in the NSPM-7 that would predict violence, and are all of course, incredibly reasonable positions or just ridiculous framing, like “extremism on gender” which is just being pro-trans:

tie together everything they know about into a nonsensical meta narrative because they can't imagine they like something just because they like it.

everything has to be meaningful and important because they wouldn't like it if it wasn't.

reminds me of silicon valley "zen coder" nonsense.

This is the most former gifted kid thing I have ever read.

Like it is such a "guy who has no friends because he's weird and off-putting" thing to not only think they personally have deep insights into the human condition that no one has ever thought of before, but they inexplicably always

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

someone with a billion dollars no longer experiences the world as 99% of humanity would recognize it, and so any “analysis” or critique of society they offer is fatally, irrevocably flawed. dracula complaining about the price of groceries

I am curious if China restrictions long-term will make US seek more partnership or straight up threats of invasion of Canada to get materials from somewhere else.

Canada has a lot of rare minerals but lacks in production/processing. Still it is a valuable source.
