Fact check from the proud owner of a 2013 Honda Fit: true.
You guys have no idea how good this car is for what we’re doing. You can lurk in alleys or behind parked SUVs. It drives like a go-cart. You’re three feet off the ground with exceptional visibility so I can pull snap u-turns or cut behind convoys

This morning at Tube Gym I learned that the “fire exit” which is also the accessible exit doesn’t actually open when you scan to exit and a staff member told me “we don’t have the code for that.”
That staff member had to exit through a tube to open that door for people trying to exit. ffs
Weeks after we first wrote about PureGym's controversial tube-assisted egress system, the FDNY has inspected 7 of the gym locations and issued dozens of violations, some of them related to having to scan your phone to exit the building.

Seven PureGym locations across the city have racked up more than two dozen fire safety violations.

FOILed my own ALPR data and at the very least I have proven that my bike rack does not obstruct my license plate and I’m excited to send the NYPD’s own photos to them next time I have to appeal one of these tickets.

I made an advent calendar of one thing you can do every day to improve your digital security and become more informed (ie paranoid).
New Decrypting a Defense issue. Greg discusses an infiltration by police into an activist Signal group. @diz.bsky.social provides the 1st DFU advent calendar. Laura celebrates a NYC bill to improve FOIL responses. Christine answers a question about facial recognition and holiday travelers.

I used to think that maybe a closed universe LLM just for research could maybe be "ok," but I've now tested a few and the AI will often tell you a holding in a case is the opposite of what it is.
This is upsetting because Westlaw headnotes were good and useful and now I can't trust them.

We have reached the point of the Vuelta protest coverage where I can shift to being irritated at Regular News for not understanding Cycling, instead of being mildly irritated at Cycling Media for not quite understanding Regular News. Delightful.

Incredible how many people are saying "protestors shouldn't disrupt sporting events! What are they accomplishing!!" when meanwhile it has led every cycling outlet - not traditional places for political convo - to report on Gaza and significant pressure on IPT.
