To end the vicious cycle of harm, the government must invest in community alternatives such as welfare, housing, and specialist drug and alcohol services to ensure people's needs are met.

The latest Safety in Custody statistics show that in the 12 months to September 2025, there were 411 deaths in prison custody, an increase of 30% in the previous 12 months.

Of these, 96 deaths were self-inflicted, an increase from the 88 self-inflicted deaths in the previous 12 months.

CNN reports Israel will not release Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya as part of the ceasefire deal with Hamas. The eminent pediatrician was detained in Dec. during Israel’s raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital, after he refused to abandon patients under siege.

Reminder that if people resist expulsion on human rights grounds it’s almost invariably because a) they’d be subjected to torture or similar b) they’re extremely ill & wouldn’t get treatment or c) their children would suffer serious long term harm. The Tories think all these things are fine
