Spend some time in front of a mirror practicing your best evil laugh! It won't come up terribly often, but some loud, dramatic laughter at the right time can command a LOT of attention--and let your players know that this guy isn't just some minion.

Don't be afraid to let your players explore content you hadn't anticipated or prepared! Some of the best sessions I've ever run have been 75% off the top of my head, because the PCs did something unexpected. Flip through your notes, act like this was all part of the plan, and have fun!

Phoenix Phyre endured the Trial of Balance this week! It was a bit touch-and-go at first, but at the beginning of the third round they figured out the gimmick: each enemy could only be damaged by a character of the exact opposite alignment. Once they knew that, they cleaned 'em up!

Well, that's it. The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham #Fighters lost Game 6 of the Climax Series 1-2. The Softbank Hawks are going on to the Japan Series, and my heart may never recover.

A simple rule of thumb, but a powerful one: the behavior you reward is the behavior you encourage. If you want your players to think out of the box, you have to reward them for doing so!

5 years ago, my best friend's schedule finally cleared up enough for him to join a D&D game I was running; a Gothic horror campaign with 4 other players. Fast forward a few years, and he's now engaged to one of those players! Plus, the two of them have asked ME to officiate the ceremony next week!
