Check out our new work in JSLHR where we consider ethical issues in collection of daylong audio recordings in children with language delays and disabilities. This work was part of a bioethics supplement from NIDCD. @dmessinger.bsky.social

Using automated, digital data collection -- e.g., daylong audio recordings of children's language environments -- is yielding important insights for research in CSD. But ethical issues have yet to be thoroughly explored. This study does just that. on.asha.org/45hnjh5

Once again sharing this info.

Please share with your friends and loved ones in the National Guard or active duty military.
If you are national guard or active duty military and you are being ordered to violate the constitutional rights of U.S. citizens then this is the number to the GU Rights Hotline. There is support, you don’t have to go thru with it.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

There's a protein craze.
How much protein should you eat?
In Outlive, Peter Attia's recommendation of 1 g/pound/day is without evidence and may be harmful

Rumeysa Ozturk must not be deported. You can't kidnap someone off the street for their political views — this isn't Moscow.

She has every right to speak her mind. I've contacted the Administration. I want answers.

“Nobody feels like their job is safe. Everyone is on edge,” said Kim Hasenkrug, an NIH scientist emeritus… “Even the top people can’t keep track because they’re hiring and firing so much. Direct supervisors of those who were terminated didn’t even know that it was happening.”
At NIH, ‘everyone is on edge’ as they brace for deep cuts and more centralized control
As the NIH braces for cuts of up to 5,000 of its 20,000 positions, “people are scrambling and freaking out,” a researcher said.

I'm appalled by the USDA's decision to pause funding to the University of Maine System.

This will hurt our farmers, halt critical research, and impact students throughout Maine.

Once again, our state is being targeted for retribution—all because our officials are standing up for the rule of law.

This Friday, where will you be?
