Quite the fancier of podcasts, chemistry & science history. Favourite element: Ta. Previously award winning brewer. Also home brewer. Outsider in Cumbria.

I claim to be from a council house on the mean streets of Wolverhampton, but here I am eating goose pizza.
Hold up what you're doing. The mouse from Tom & Jerry's full name is Gerald Jinx Mouse.

Can only think that Cumbria is sourcing traffic lights from across Europe with the number of roadworks currently in operation on the tiny number of roads in the county.

I’ve invented a hot tub from which you can point the finger of blame. I call it the j’accuzzi

Been out on the pop in Whitehaven & found a beer I invented 5 years ago. I called it Seven Bridges after the number of crossings of the Rhine in Cologne, but it's been changed. We agreed it was a perfectly nice drink however.

This new job where I don't have to get up at 04:00 is wonderful for getting a decent night's sleep, but I've found that the time available to do housework has reduced by about ten hours per week. Swings & roundabouts I guess.

It is the first meeting this year of the West Coast Homebrewers today in Whitehaven. We've had a quiet one this year as life has gotten in the way of brewing & I've had an unpredictable work schedule until a fortnight ago.

My straightforward Saison bottled this morning. Europils malt, EKG hops, Saison yeast. Gravity at bottling 1.000. Tastes great at this stage - a little white wine like & acidic.

There's been better vintages, but still a great sipper.

The nicest beer with oats on the allergens list I've ever had. Also - and no coincidence - the driest. Like a grapefruity West Coast IPA but much drier. *Just* my cup of tea.

Love the label art too.

I've only just noticed forty years later that there is London Pride & ESB on the bar in this video youtu.be/FN2X5JwMdEE?...

Been out just a bit too late to catch the last of the light on the mountains - specifically Grasmoor.
After poking me with the end of their walking cane that touches the floor - as they tried to put it in the back of the car - my kid learnt the phrase "shitty stick".

My Saison has been sitting in the fermenter for a fortnight as I've not had time to bottle it. I've only got my red ale in the house.

Would like to release a cover of Live It Up, but in the style of Led Zeppelin. My band name would be Metal As Anything.

The 2nd bottled of my Red Ale with crystal rye & cherry wood smoked malts has been opened. After the last bottle to be bottled (containing extra yeast off the bottom of the fermenter) gassed up quick & was gorgeous. The rest are taking their sweet time.

Called outside to witness a strange light moving under a distant cloud. We reckon it's a Xmas switch on or a newly opened thing in Dumfries with a sweeping light lighting up the underside of the clouds.

A got a picture of Jupiter rising over the northeastern sky.

So I was enjoying a beer in 10 Forward & Picard said "maximum warp, engage" four decks up on the bridge.

That didn't go where I was expecting it to go.

I have no problem with pricey pints, as long as it's the greatest beer experience I've ever had.

Now we're talking. My favourite beer style after NZIPA. Maybe an NZIPA is a subgenre of West Coast IPA. Just *keep* heading west.
Grapefruity & pine resinous hops, bitter, clear.

Tastes like every other NEIPA to be honest. Sweet, not much in the bitterness department & gloopy.

At least it didn't set me back typical NEIPA prices.
