It's the black & white thinking trap. Focusing on why we "should" do a thing or waiting until everything is perfect means we can never start.

Being able to pause and "read the room" helps us feel safe enough to engage authentically instead of trying too hard.

3/3. Be kind to yourself. Invest in self care so you aren’t so easily overwhelmed to begin with, and ask for help when you need it.

You have permission to NOT do everything all at once.

It’s hard to cover something like this with just a quick note, but I hope this helps.
2/3. Breaking things down also means right-sizing tasks, not just listing all the steps. ADHDers tend toward B&W thinking and perfectionism. Is the job actually tackling the ENTIRE laundry monster? Or can you do a smaller load - enough clothes to buy yourself some space so you can move forward?
1/3. Overwhelm is part of fight, flight or freeze. When we feel under attack we have lower frustration tolerance & higher overwhelm. I think of overwhelm as a check engine light. I get overwhelmed when I’m not in a good place, haven’t taken care of myself or I don’t have enough resources.
Even when the way forward is clear, the whole thing can still feel like too much. Remember you can break things down into smaller chunks.
