It was with this friend that I first encountered and played a Final Fantasy game, watched anime, all of which lit my brain afire. We wrote stories together, drew pictures, imagined strange worlds and stories. It unlocked a love of creativity that I still hold. He was formative to who I am today.

I just found out an old friend of mine, someone I started school with as a five year old, took his life two days ago. We’d lost touch many years ago and I am feeling some kind of way about it. Hug your pals.

When we were 13-14 I think, some friends and I would gather at this place called e-funz to play Counter Strike, Diablo, and Dota. It was a while before any of us could afford our own gaming hardware.

Playing console & PC games at home is seen as the default experience, but I'd bet that the majority of people in the 2000s experienced games in these social places, paying by the hour.

It's vastly underrepresented in academia & retrogaming debates but it's key to understanding things like F2P games

Let It Die: Inferno looks really neat, I always love seeing what Grasshopper are doing. Best part of that trailer for me though is what they call the looting UI. If it's a chest opened it's called Treasure Buds, if it's looting a dead body it was Yucky Drops. Really funny vibes.

I feel like a lot of people (Silksong) need to learn that if you’re getting absolutely tilted repeating a boss fight over and over again, you should just turn it off and come back tomorrow. More often than not you’ll beat it first try.
