Sydney Environment Institute celebrates the International Court of Justice's historic ruling on states’ climate obligations. The ICJ's much-anticipated Advisory Opinion on climate change is the clearest legal affirmation to date that states have a legally binding obligation to address climate change

🚨NEW | Israel Approves Plan to ‘Capture’ and Occupy All of Gaza and Control Humanitarian Aid

Israel has approved a sweeping plan to seize all of Gaza, to occupy it indefinitely, and displace its people south—advancing what rights groups warn is a military-engineered campaign of ethnic cleansing. 🧵

An Apothecary of poems. As so many of us reach for some salve for the fears, anxieties, sense of loss, and terrors of the moment - from social media, techno-solutions, substances.. does poetry offer a true alternative? A nonsolution solution that enables us to remain with ambiguity? poetryclinic.org

This could be a big deal for the hundreds of climate lawsuits underway around the world. @jsmankin.bsky.social and @ccallahan45.bsky.social link emissions from specific fossil fuel companies to trillions of dollars in damages.

“I think this is going to be the future of climate litigation." 🧪🔌💡
Can climate science attribute economic damage to major polluters?
Climate researchers argue their science has advanced enough to directly link emissions from particular companies to damages from specific extreme weather events

One of the greatest conceits of #CriminalJustice is that the #police (and other policing agencies) serve and protect the public. They don't, and never have.

They serve the State by policing the public.

What you're seeing in the US right now, is that policing stripped of its conceit.

If you're interested in Racialised #Zemiology, and want to see the harms of the US's neo-eugenicist movement that now dominates the Trump administration, then this is a good example.

As the #racist logics of US policy begins to bite we will see more of these downstream harms emerging

The EU placed a strategic bet on Serbian lithium to fuel its shift to electric vehicles.

But it's resulted in dirty politics and an environmental backlash so severe it is poisoning the Balkan nation’s relations with Brussels.
Is Serbia turning into an EU mining colony?
A Brussels-backed project to develop the lithium reserves needed to power electric vehicles is fueling political instability on the European Union’s doorstep.
