if anyone's curious of a way to understand those people (doesn't make our situation any easier to fix) look up Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development, there's more to it this diagram is simplifying it but TLDR is a bunch of people are still stuck with a 12 year old's understanding of right and wrong
stages of moral development shows order of avoiding punishment, self-interest (ages 3-7), good boy attitude, law and order morality (ages 8-13), upper tiers as social contract and principle (adulthood). image is playful characters sitting around thinking and talking, with hand at thet op placing the world principle.
