I once attended a group dinner with Udo Kier. A smaller gathering might have given me a panic attack; his gaze was as magnetic as it was terrifying. I believe he knew this, recognized its effect on me, and amused the shit out of himself with this knowledge.

Absolutely otherworldly. RIP.

Counterpoint: Socialism is fucking great, actually.
BREAKING: The House of Representatives voted 285–98 in favor of a resolution condemning socialism.

Eighty-six Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the measure, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

OK tonight I learned that Gaspar Noe brought Dario Argento as his +1 to meet the Pope, and this is possibly the sweetest and the maddest thing to ever happen.
The Pope got to meet Dario Argento! I wonder which of the Three Mothers trilogy is Leo's fav, I'm gonna say Inferno, cos this Pope doesn't seem like a Suspiria kinda guy.
The Pope welcomed a number of Hollywood film stars to the Vatican, where he called cinema a "vehicle of hope".

More than 100 film industry professionals were received at the Apostolic Palace, including Cate Blanchett, Alison Brie and Viggo Mortensen.

It's the 300th(!!) episode of Cinema Smorgasbord and on the latest WE DO OUR OWN STUNTS we have an odd mix of goofy (UNCOMFORTABLE) comedy and incredible action in 1985's TWINKLE TWINKLE, LUCKY STARS!

Why the fuck was Mr. Snuffleupagus a bridge too far for the Sesame Street humans? They have no problem believing in Grover or Oscar the Grouch.

A gigantic talking bird is easier to believe in than a hairy elephant? THOSE ACTUALLY EXISTED.
[November 18th, 1985] In the Season 17 premiere of Sesame Street, Episode 2096, the adults on Sesame Street finally meet Mr. Snuffleupagus and realize he is real, not imaginary.

Elmo is also introduced as a new character.

I read the new R. Crumb comic today and it bummed me out - it’s heartening to see that in his 80s he can still draw like a motherfucker, but he’s totally fallen down the anti-vax rabbit hole, he even recommends RFK jr’s books. *extended Charlie Brown sigh*
