I thought that "Straight on Till Morning" was the Hammer Films "love story."

But it's an entirely different, similarly named horror flick.

The same can be said re "Liberalism" (which doesn't mean what I thought it means) and "Progressivism."

The "Rugged Individualist" ideal and "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" dogma, alas, incurably infect the American character.

Classic film lovers are not born. They are made, if they are curious. And The Curious will always seek, explore, watch, learn, develop, grow.

There has been, are now, and ALWAYS WILL BE conservators who will preserve and keep alive cinematic history.
Passionate cinephiles will seek out "classic" movies. The Common Clay perhaps won't bother to do so. But that doesn't mean the sky is falling. Just because kids don't know about Humphrey Bogart does not mean that they will NEVER know about Bogie.
"Of course, there’s every reason [viewers today] should watch John Huston’s [The African Queen]..."
I love movies. I don't love Mr. Svetkey's presumptuous and elitist Chicken Little alarum.

"Beach Blanket Bingo" dreck?!
Thank you for your response.
Yes, I know that's not what you meant. But, how would you respond to a wily bigot who craftily twists and perverts your precept, Rabbi?
Just out of curiosity-and no offense intended, Douglas Moran-but WHY is it hard to learn to say or write "I think" or "In my opinion"? Why is it difficult to Speak for Yourself instead of asserting, "I think I speak for everyone ..."?

... an open question to all who express opinions as certainties.
I'm inclined to agree with you, RDR.

However, let's extend your mitzvah to its (il)logical conclusion . . . and you know that there are folks just itching to take license with your teaching, à la, "I don't like:

*Black people
*Fat people
*Foreigners
*Jews
*LGBTQ . . ."

You get the idea . . . .
💯, Douglas Moran!

I shall never understand why some people insist on expressing their perspectives, opinions, and beliefs as facts.

How much effort does it take to say "In my opinion . . ." or preface a P.O.V. with "IMO"?
