Excerpt from the interview, which reads "The intangible costs are even higher as expertise literally walks out the door. The costs of canceling grants and then one day (hopefully) restarting legitimate scientific research will magnify the overall expense of reaching actionable results. Intelligence failures due to the purge of intelligence employees and the hiring of loyalists may produce catastrophic losses to national security."
